Street markets are part of the Portuguese culture since the foundation of the country. The oldest street market of Portugal happens on Mondays, in the village of Ponte de Lima, since 1125 (XII century), it is known as Feira de Ponte de Lima.
Portuguese people still go to a street market to buy all sort of things: fresh food, clothes, shoes, farm working items, textile, home items, furniture and even farm animals.

This tour is an all experience! So, my suggestion is to do it just like us: we go in a public transport system (such as: train or bus), we visit the street market /Feira and we can go shopping. During the rest of the day, I give you a city tour in that localty. Than, we get back to Porto by public transport.
Please notice that street markets happen daily but in different cities, so:
- On Mondays we can go to Feira de Espinho (30 minuts away from Porto)
- On Tuesday we can go to Feira de Afurada. (20 minuts away from Porto)
- On Thursday we can go to Feira de Barcelos. (50 minuts away from Porto)
- On Friday we can go to Feira de Viana do Castelo or Vila do Conde. ( 1 hour away from Porto)
- On Saturday we can visit any market arround Porto. (20 minuts away from Porto).
You will need a good pair of comfortable shoes, water, sun blocker. In the winter it is recommended some jacket or rain coat.
Timetables are just a reference, because are depending on the public transport service.
Available all year, but depending on weather conditions.
I can guide you to Braga, Guimarães, Viana do Castelo or Douro Valley.
Hello, my name is Ana and I am a local and regional tour guide, in Portugal. This is a part time job that I share with teaching in the area of Tourism and Hospitality.
I love my country and to be in contact with people from all over the world.
I like to share the history and character of portuguese citizens. And I love to see my travels smiling, taking photos, sharing their experiences, asking questions and having fun.
In my tours, travers can count on with a responsible, flexible, prepared and motivated tour guide.
The best of this job? It always keeps me smiling ?
“Engaging and thorough walking tour of Porto's ancient Jewish history.”
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Ana. She was very knowledgeable about the subject matter, and she told us fascinating engaging stories. She was able to show us some of the key areas of Porto's old Jewish history, but because there are only traces remaining, she gave us the full background and explanations. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in learning about this subject matter.
