Hi, I'm Yumi. I'm a government-certified tour guide. I was born and grew up in Tokyo.
So far, I've guided guests from more than 15 countries, and always enjoyed working for them. I am a sociable person and love to meet and talk with people with different cultural backgrounds. I think the greatest charm of Tokyo is that the old and the new coexist with each other. Visit a beautiful traditional Japanese garden with skyscrapers towering at the back, or enjoy tranquility of a big forest surrounding a historical shrine, which lies just next to a very modern and fashionable street! What’s more, Tokyo can meet diverse needs of tourists. Whatever interest you have in – art, garden, anime, architecture and so on, you’ll find the right place for you. Must-See Spots in Tokyo
First we’ll visit Meiji Shrine, a Shinto shrine dedicated to the great-great grandfather of the present emperor and nearby Harajuku, a very popular shopping area. Then I will take you to Asakusa, center of which lies a very old and popular Buddhist temple. Later we will enjoy a river cruise and visit Hamarikyu, a beautiful Japanese garden with sea-water ponds where you can enjoy green tea.
City Tram Tour Featuring Lucky Cat Temple
Take a tiny tram of Setagayasen and visit fascinating places such as Gotokuji, known as Lucky Cat Temple, with countless beckoning cats, a local administrator's residence from samurai period, etc. Stroll around a shopping mall where old shops and modern cafes stand side by side. This tour shows you both traditional temples/shrines and how Japanese shop and dine in their local community.
Off-The-Beaten Track!! Nogawa River Spring Walking Tour
Just 40 minutes from the Shinjuku, one of the busiest centers of Tokyo, this tour visits an area which maintains an atmosphere of good old local village of Japan. We will be walking along Nogawa river, a small but clear river with several springs. The river has been loved and enjoyed by locals. If timing is right, you may be able to see lots of cherry blossoms in the tour. We will also visit various interesting historic spots along it.
Local Food and Lucky Cat Temple Tour
Just 10 minutes by train from the hustle & bustle of Shinjuku, visit an off-the-beaten-track residential area of Tokyo dotted with several attractive historic sites and shops offering various delicious foods.

“A rainy but still perfect day in Tokyo”
I really enjoyed the day with Yumi a lot. Getting all the information about Shintoism and the late emperors of Japan when visiting the Mejii Jingo and Buddhism when visiting the Sensō-ji was wonderful. Closing the day in the quiet Hama-rikyu Gardens was perfect too. But I also enjoyed our conversations about „Gott und die Welt“ („all the world and his wife“ to save you from looking it up) which gave me so much insight into the Japanese culture and thinking. どうもありがとございます Yumi
