Naoto K.
Hello! Thank you for considering me as your guide. My name is Naoto, and I'm a licensed local guide interpreter. I was born in Kurobe, Toyama and grew up in Toyama and other Hokuriku region, Kanazawa and Takayama before living and working overseas. My global experience in other countries and several decades of life in Tokyo made me realize that the Toyama and Kanazawa area offers the most authentic, worthwhile Japan—the kind international travelers truly desire when visiting Japan. I specialize in helping you go beyond the typical tourist path, immersing you in Toyama, Kanazawa and its surrounding areas to reveal the pristine culture and natural beauty that await in this hidden gem. Whether your interests lie in history, architecture, arts and crafts, lively festivals, unique food culture, or nature watching (including music, manga, anime and pop culture), I've got you covered. I particularly enjoy uncovering local treasures, like a secluded restaurant tucked away in the mountains near a temple. And for those who love the outdoors, I'd be delighted to organize a hiking or fishing trip to showcase Toyama's natural beauty. Since every tour can be customized according to your interests and needs, I will personally help you have a one-of-a-kind experience here in the Toyama and Kanazawa area. Welcome to Hokuriku! I’m based in Kanazawa and would love to show you around not just the famous sights, but also the everyday beauty and hidden corners that make this region special. I also provide winter tours and have a logistics team for your expedient comfort needs and convenience. Whether you're strolling through samurai districts, sampling fresh seafood at a local market, or soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of mountain villages like Takayama, Shirakawa-go or Ainokura among many more, I’ll help you experience Japan in a way that feels personal, relaxed, and real. I grew up in BC Canada with friends from all over the world, and now call Japan home. I speak conversational Japanese and understand both the traveler’s curiosity and the local rhythm of life. That means I can help bridge the gap, so you feel comfortable and connected wherever we go. Every tour is flexible—if the weather shifts or something catches your eye, we can adapt. My goal is to make your time here smooth, engaging, and full of insight. Let’s explore Hokuriku together, one story, flavor, and moment at a time.

Shoten S.
Hello, my name is Shoten, please call me Sho. I was born in a local area in Toyama prefecture. I majored in civil engineering at a college and am interested in historical infrastructures. After graduation, I continued to study English at a local English circle. In international activities, I also guided foreign people around Toyama Prefecture, Ishikawa Prefecture, and Gifu Prefecture. After retirement, I work as a guide interpreter and a translator. The Hokuriku region has many sightseeing spots, including beautiful landscapes like Kenrokuen Garden and Tateyama, tasty food like traditional Kaga dishes and fresh seafood from Toyama Bay, and traditional crafts like Takaoka copperware and Inami woodcarving. I introduce these spots and historical infra tourism, such as the Kurobe dam and industrial tourism. I look forward to welcoming you to the Hokuriku region.

My interests include art, architecture, food, sake, wine, and sustainability. In the past, I had the opportunity to visit destinations around the world. My passion for traveling and experiencing other cultures helped me recognize the beauty in my own culture, and inspired me to become a tour guide. I’m a fun, energetic, and passionate guide who’s ready to show you an unforgettable time in Japan, whatever your interests may be! Hida is a beautiful region tucked away in the Northern Alps, and its location helped preserve Takayama’s old town constructed by local master carpenters. On your tour, I’ll give you tips on what you should look for to appreciate traditional Japanese architecture. If you’re a sake lover, Hida is the place for you because the cold climate makes it suitable for brewing quality sake. I’m a licensed Sake Sommelier, and I’d love to take you to the breweries in town and give you some recommendations. I’ve also been trained to host art tours. If you’re interested in contemporary Japanese art, I recommend visiting Kanazawa, where you can find inspirational creativity in every corner! My goal is to help you discover the authentic Japanese way of life while feeling comfortable like a local rather than standing out like a tourist. Please let me know what kind of experience you’re looking for, and I will happily tailor a unique experience just for you. Fun facts about me! I was sponsored to travel around the world twice I was a torch runner in the 1998 Nagano Olympics I grew up in nature, eating wild plants and seeing many wild animals

“Awesome Private tour guide!”
I requested a personalized tour to see all the places from the movie “wolf children ame & yuki” It was lovely to see all the sights. He took some pictures for me and then showed me some really cool places around Toyama too! The Mountain View was incredible and so was the ocean! (The weather just happened to be super clear without a cloud in the sky perhaps naoto is a lucky tour guide haha!)

“Tateyama Alpine Route”
We had a really good tour arranged by Yuta. We had some practical challenges in connection with our trip along the Tateyama Alpine route. Yuta helped us arrange the tour so it was a really good experience. During the trip, Yuta told us many interesting things about Japan, including about daily life and Japanese culture. We thank you for an exciting and well-arranged tour.
