Hida Furukawa is a picturesque castle town known for its white-walled storehouses and traditional wooden townhouses. Along the Seto River, the Shirakabe Dozogai Street offers a serene view of colorful koi fish swimming in crystal-clear waters. Renowned for its master craftsmanship, the town preserves its rich woodworking heritage. Every year on April 19-20, the vibrant Furukawa Festival captivates visitors with its powerful Okoshi Daiko drumming and elegant festival floats. With its peaceful atmosphere and deep cultural heritage, Hida Furukawa is a hidden gem where history and tradition come to life.

Tour Important Information

The tour duration would be 9 hours, starting from Kanazawa and ending at Kanazawa. I will be the guide but also your private driver.

Please let me know in advance if you have any food allergies, other dietary restrictions or food preferences.

This tour includes the guiding fee, pickup and drop off, a private car with driver, gas, highway tolls, and parking fees.

This tour excludes lunch and entrance fee for both participants and the guide.

This tour doesn't take you to Shirakawago but it is negotiable to go to both Takayama and Shirakawago in this tour. The total cost would be changed. Please contact me if you are interested in visiting both sites.

“Amazing guide!”

We had the most wonderful day in Kanazawa with Yoji. His English was exceptional and his knowledge extraordinary. We had booked him for 7.5 hours and were worried it would be too long, but the day flew by. Yoji just strolled around the city taking us through the castle, the amazing gardens, the best coffee so far in Japan and we finally found examples of the no nails building techniques, which are just brilliant. Through the Geisha district, then the Samurai district, viewing original Samurai homes from a foot solider to the head of Samurai armies. He took us to a local soba noodle restaurant for an amazing lunch, plus a lot of fascinating little shops that you would normally disregard or walk by. It was the most memorable day, made so by a wonderful human, that has given us an insight into the Japanese culture, both past and present that will remain with us for a long time. The weather was also perfect, so a beautiful way to bring our Japanese holiday to a close.

“Five Stars for Unforgettable tours in Kanazawa with Yoji”

My group and I hired Yoji for three separate tours had an absolutely wonderful time exploring Kanazawa and area with him as our guide. His English is flawless and he is attentive, thoughtful and knowledgeable about his city. He shared so much enlightening information - beautifully weaving historical context, local traditions and fascinating details into every stop along the way. Yoji’s service is always to the fullest. He was willing to adjust the pace and asked lots of questions to make sure he understand what we wanted. And he did. We booked him on 2 seperate days, and so he spent 2 nights waiting for us. He even was willing to pick us from hotel and drop us for dinner together. His English is impeccable.
