About Tour Guide Erol M.

I was born and raised in Japan and have spent my career working closely with international guests. After retiring as a hotel executive, I chose to become a tour guide so I could share Japan in a more personal and meaningful way. I especially enjoy telling the history of Yokohama, Japan’s first foreign settlement, and explaining how it shaped modern Japan through culture, trade, and daily life. Drawing on my background in hospitality, I customize each tour to meet your interests, pace, and travel style, ensuring a comfortable and memorable experience tailored just for you.

Aktuell bin ich auch private Japanischlehrerin (ich habe auch einen Vertrag mit der amerikanischen Marine) und gelegentlich Reiseführerin. Mein Hobbies sind Reisen, Lesen, Kochen, etwas Süßes backen usw. Ich würde Sie sehr gerne Tokyo bzw Yokohama oder Kamakura und Yokosuka zeigen :)

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I first came to Japan as a high school exchange student in Inuyama, a historic castle town in Aichi. My love for Japan began early—sparked by childhood games like Pokémon that were released in Japanese before English. That early curiosity grew into a lifelong passion for Japanese language, culture, and history. I hold an N2 on the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, a degree in Asian Studies from a Tokyo university, and I graduated from the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy.
