I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I am excited to show you around beautiful places that I love. I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort. Kamakura is an old capital where Japan’s first samurai government began. Yokosuka has long been a base for the Japanese Navy, and today it is a special mix of American and Japanese naval cultures. Misaki & Jogashima (Miura City) is a quiet fishing and farming town, very different from busy Tokyo. Hayama is a beautiful town with a summer house of the Japanese Imperial Family. “Amazing Day and tour! ”
The driver was fabulous!! We had an amazing day. Definitely would recommend. I visit Japan 4 times a year for work, This visit I’m here for pleasure and brought 8 friends. We hired the private transport for the day. It saved a lot of time we would have wasted looking for the correct train, bus, subway.. we were able to visit Hakone and the sightseeing spots all in 8 hours including an hour lunch and shopping.

“Loved seeing Hakone with Ken-san”
My boyfriend and I toured Hakone and the surrounding area with Ken-san. We had a great day! We took the rope-way and cable car to have black eggs at the top of the volcano (for good luck) and then did the Lake Ashi boat ride (and on a clear day you can see Mt Fuji). We had a great local lunch, shopped a bit and walked in the town and a nearby forest. We also did a sake tasting at a local grocery store that offered a quick, fun way to learn more about sake. Ken-san is very knowledgeable, friendly, upbeat, easy to talk with and funny. He clearly loves what he does and likes to share the history and culture of the region and Japan. He was also flexible and listened to what we wanted to do and planned the day accordingly. We would definitely use Ken-san again and highly recommend him.
