About Tour Guide Rene F.
KONNICHIWA! I am Rene. I studied commerce and marketing at university and have already graduated. I also studied abroad in France, where I was deeply inspired by the positivity and openness of people from different cultures. Through that experience, I discovered the joy of connecting with others beyond language and cultural barriers.
Now, as a guide in Japan, I hope to share the authentic beauty and warmth of this country with visitors from around the world, while supporting and inspiring them during their journey!!!

Tokyo East in a Day
Tokyo’s east side is where everyday life and memory quietly remain. This journey follows the rhythm of older Tokyo — temples still woven into daily routines, neighborhoods shaped by long relationships, and streets where time moves gently. You walk through places that have survived change not by resisting it, but by absorbing it. Your guide walks beside you not as a lecturer, but as someone who knows these streets — letting stories surface naturally through place, pause, and conversation.

Tokyo West in a Day
This is not a tour about checking off sights. It’s a journey through the spaces between people and places in West Tokyo. From quiet forests to culture-filled streets, from the pulse of modern Tokyo to neighborhoods where life slows down— you walk not as a tourist, but as a temporary local. Your guide is not a narrator, but a companion. Through conversation, pauses, and shared moments, the day naturally becomes your own Tokyo story.

“Great team of tour guides!”
Rene had a schedule change so she had her colleague Cody take us to Nikko for the day. He was great! Very well spoken and knowledgeable and planned a great day for us. I would highly recommend working with them!

“Temples, neighbourhoods, food and shopping: East Tokyo”
Thank you very much to Rene for a great first day in Tokyo and in Japan. I had a tight schedule and wanted to make the most of my day. Rene guided me to four sights and more, without being rushed, and with plenty of time to absorb everything. She is a happy and extrovert personality. And was eager to share her knowledge and thoughts/ contrast Japanese culture with European. She was also able to help me with shopping for gifts. And practical advice, such as how to find your way around the Tokyo public transport system. And she clearly has good knowledge of great restaurants, that are real Japanese traditional places, with delicious food. Thank you for a great day out.

“Multiple Tours with Go With Guide”
On a solo trip to Tokyo, I was fortunate to book a couple of tours with GoWithGuide. I went on tours with Rene, with Kody, and also with both of them together — and every single experience was outstanding. Japan, and Tokyo in particular, can be challenging to navigate as a foreigner, especially if you want to get beyond the standard tourist spots. That’s where these guides truly stand out. From the moment they picked me up at my hotel, everything was taken care of. The organization was flawless, yet the atmosphere was very relaxed, friendly, and informal. I joined a Food & Drink tour, day trips to Kamakura and Kawagoe, and a Mount Fuji trip. Each tour felt personal and well thought out, taking me to hidden spots I never would have found on my own. On top of that, there was a lot of fun and laughter along the way — it never felt like a “guided tour,” more like exploring Tokyo with knowledgeable local friends. If you’re traveling solo or simply want a stress-free, authentic, and enjoyable way to discover Tokyo and its surroundings, I can’t recommend GoWithGuide — and especially Rene and Kody — highly enough. Truly next level.

Ayami M.

Koichiro Y.
Hello! I’m Koichiro. Please call me “Yamasan”. It derives from my family name and my friends call me so. I worked for a machinery company as a project manager and engineer for mechanical and electrical construction projects both domestic and overseas for over 35 years. I recall my first overseas project in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia when I was 26, and the second was in Singapore. I visited many countries for surveys, meetings, commissioning, project handing over, and so on. In 2014 at the age of 60, I decided to retire from the company and live the expected further 30 years of life with a new career and experiences. I, then, studied translation and guide interpretation. I passed the national examination for licensed guides (English) in 2015 and registered with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in February 2016. Until now, I have been guiding many beautiful guests mainly to popular sightseeing spots such as Asakusa, Tsukiji, Omote-Sando, Meiji Jingu Shrine, and Tokyo Skytree, and also cultural experiences of Origami making, Furoshiki wrapping, and Sushi cooking. I am happy that I can freely arrange a customized tour together with you, or can propose my tours to you. I want to show you some parts of daily Tokyo life and introduce you to Bunkyo City which is located in the heart of Tokyo, just north of Chiyoda City where the Imperial Palace and Tokyo Station are. The city is Tokyo’s typical residential and academic area where I was born, grew up, and live a happy life now. Now, we can tour around the world but have not yet overcome COVID-19 completely. Recently, the number of passengers wearing masks on public transportation in Tokyo reduced to some 25% but we should mind about it still. Please carry your mask to wear it where or when necessary (December 2024, Yamasan).

Hiromi Y.
Hi, I am Hiromi, a National licensed guide in English. I studied in England and U.S. during my 20s and 30s. I graduated college in NY. While I lived in overseas and experiencing different culture, I had chances to look at Japanese culture from the outside. And I realized its richness and uniqueness. Experiencing different culture was like discovering my own culture. I live west part of Tokyo with my husband. Whenever we have time we like traveling. Also I have been practicing tea gathering (tea ceremony) about 10 years. In Tokyo, there exist traditional culture as well as pop culture. There are so many places I would like to show you. It’s my pleasure to introduce you exquisite part of Tokyo. Let’ enjoy exploring TOKYO with me! I’m looking forward to sharing memorable experience with you.
