Dankeschoen ! Rie
“Top Tier Custom Tour”
We were very fortunate to book Grant at the last minute to see the national museum, and the surrounding areas. Grant (fluently bilingual in Japanese and English(!)) is extremely knowledgeable on Japan's history, art, whisky, good food, and was able to explain many cultural concepts we didn't understand before we met him. We went from knowing virtually nothing, to having a solid grasp on the last few thousand years of Japanese history, brought to life as we saw artifacts and customs we experienced firsthand. Grant also knows a great deal on many topics that aren't strictly historical, helping us get settled with the basics we needed for the rest of our stay in Japan (we forgot power adapters and stationary). He even helped us find an art gallery we were looking for, and also was able to find a great place to eat, despite our difficult dietary restrictions. We look forward to returning to Tokyo and taking a different tour with Grant in the future! -Also, if you enjoy whisky, he really knows where the best places to go are.

(6 reviews)Thank you for the great review. I also really enjoyed this unique mission because the Ueno national history museum has artifacts from every era of Japanese history and there is plenty to talk about. But I think what made this mission the most unique was tracking down original ukiyoe woodblock prints signed by the artist. We got experience Japanese art history first hand.

“The best guide for my clients!”
My clients enjoyed the tour so muca and I am glad to share their feedback: "Munetaka was the most knowledgeable and experienced guide we had throughout our trip to Japan and very good-humored and conscientious. He took such good care of us, and even got us some special treatment at the Tokyo Sky Tree, which was very crowded, so that my husband, who walks with a cane, would not have to wait in long lines for admission or the elevator. He brought us wonderful snacks and small gifts, including origami figures made for us by his wife. He also knew all of the restaurants in the areas we visited, and when his first choice was too full he quickly found another that we thoroughly enjoyed. He is extremely well-informed about Japanese culture and history." We cannot recommend him more highly!
