It was around this sacred church that the primitive nucleus of the town flourished, officially open to worship on August 15, 1248. This pivotal moment marked Setúbal's newfound religious and political autonomy, a milestone that shaped the city's rich heritage.
Dating back to the 16th century, Praça do Bocage served as the administrative heart of the town and was once known as the "Cabbage Square" Its unique name originated from hosting the vegetable market. In the 19th century, it was renamed Praça de Bocage in honor of one of Portugal's greatest poets and a native of Setúbal. Today, Praça do Bocage is a lively space where locals gather to enjoy coffee, sip on moscatel, children play freely, and occasionally, street artists entertain with concerts or dance performances.
Livramento Market is a sensory feast where local products, fresh fish, and ripe fruits converge in a harmonious symphony of aromas. Recognized by USA Today as one of the world's finest markets, inaugurated in 1876, is a daily hub for locals, ensuring an authentic, encounter.
Founded in 1496, this sacred space, established as a cloistered convent, welcomed 33 nuns and was the brainchild of Dona Justa, a wet nurse to afuture king and mother to children born of a bishop, himself an illegitimate son of another monarch. This Convent is proudly recognized as the country's first monument in the decorative Manueline style.

Divine Footsteps: Fátima Walking Tour
“Excelente tour personalizado”
Gracias Raquel!
