Most of us know Portugal as a port wine country, but you may be interested in trying other wine choices the country has to offer. Each region has its own specialities, and the selection is large. Here you will find what wine grapes each region usually uses and what kind of taste their wines have. This way you can easily find the area you would like to visit.
  • Setúbal is famous for its dessert wines made from Moscatel de Setubal and red wines made from Castelão. Moscatel de Setubal is one of the oldest wines in the world, and its taste can be described as honeyed and spiced with a strong orange blossom aroma. As the wine ages, its flavors begin to develop into hints of coffee, raisins and dried fruit.
  • Tejo is also famous for its red wines made from Castelão, as well as its white wines made from Fernão Pires, Arinto, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. The red wines of the regions are soft, tannic and aromatic. The white wines are fruity and have a touch of tropical and floral aromas.
  • Alentejo is famous for its red wines made from Alicante Bouschet, Tempranillo, Trincadeira, Alfrocheiro, and Touriga Nacional. Its white wines are made from Arinto, Encruzado and Antão Vaz. The red wines of this region are full-bodied, rich in tannins and have aromas of wild and red berries. Its white wines are usually mild, slightly acidic, and their aromas are tropical

Portugal

Hello. My name is Marisa and I am a tour guide in the ancient, mysterious and beautiful city of Lisbon. Lisbon is an ancient city and Phoenicians, Romans, Muslims, Catholics passed through this city all left their mark in heritage, words and food. Lisbon was also a city of spies. Even the real James Bond ( yes, it was a real James Bond) lived here and worked here. So, if you want to join me in this journey, I offer you, in Lisbon, 2 tours: a tour to discover the old town of Lisbon and a spy tour, focusing on world war II. But if you want to experience a magical place, I'll take you to Pena Palace. Pena Palace is a must-see, in the beautiful, romantic and world heritage, Sintra Village. And in the end, before you leave Portugal, I promise you will understand the true meaning of the Portuguese word Saudade. See you soon. Goodbye or Adeus!

Lisbon Tour Guide - Gonçalo C.

Gonçalo C.

Portugal

I have been a tour guide for 7 years, working for some of the biggest tour operators in Lisbon. I have started from zero, and during these years, exploring, studying and showing others from north to south our paradise, brought me the experience to become a full time private guide. Studying history for the past 6 years while working as a tour guide has provided me with extensive knowledge of Portugal, and piqued my interest in learning about different cultures and traditions which makes me be always looking for unique, off the beaten track experiences. I strive to develope tours all over the country at the most beautiful and unique sites, providing local and authentic experiences for my customers. My job as I like to describe, it's give you the perfect day, tailor made to suit your own preferences, at the region or regions that you are interesting to visit in our small paradise.
