About Tour Guide Ai M.

Hello! Thank you so much for your interest in having me as your tour guide.

I have guided over 200 tourists for the past years, as a guide of the bar hopping tours, hidden gems tours, and private tours. "Tokyo Hidden Gems", a community I made has over 400 members.

I have been fortunate enough to have opportunities to visit 33 out of 47 prefectures in Japan since I was a child, thanks to my parents who are passionate travelers, which has raised my interests in traveling and let me work in the tourism industry after graduation. I have experiences of working at a stylish hostel, and at the largest travel agency in Japan.

As one of the young tour guides, I can show you not only historical spots but also trendy spots based on the subculture of ordinary young Japanese people.

I love art, design, fashion, vintage clothing, taking photos with my film camera, and coffee.

If you are looking for someone who knows well about good vintage clothing stores/ cozy cafes, or interested in traveling throughout Japan, please feel free to let me know!

Tokyo Part 2

After a great first evening trip with Ai, she excelled again on Day 2 with a full day tour across some highlights of Tokyo, with the flexibility to change things at a moment’s notice. One of the best tours we’ve ever had. Thank you again. GoWithGuide = GoWithAi

A great first day in Shinjuku.

As first time visitors to Japan, planning a trip can be a bit daunting. In planning the trip, I was impressed by previous reviews for Ai so asked if she was available to offer an introduction to Shinjuku on our first day; something that would suit a family of four, from 15, 19 to 50’s. Ai delivered a fantastic tour for a few hours around Shinjuku. She kept things interesting for all of us and showed us places and bars/restaurants that we’d never have found on our own. A superb start to our trip. Thank you Ai.

Your kind words motivate me to continue providing engaging and memorable tours. Thank you for choosing me as your guide! Warm regards, Ai

Shinjuku, Harajuku, Shibuya highlights Tokyo tour!

After traveling In Tokyo Japan and all around Thailand with a number of different Guides with My wife and I and our 2 kids ages 12 and 15 we have decided that our most memorable tour was with Ai. She was very flexible and met us in the lobby of our hotel to start our tour. Before we headed out for the day she asked us if there were any areas of interest or stops other than the ones we had already planned with her. During the day she was able to answer all of questions and was very knowledgable of the places we toured. With Ai 's help were also able to get quite a bit of family pictures. We had also picked out a popular lunch spot for sushi in which she booked a reservation for that we were unaware that a reservation would be necessary. The waiting time was very long when we arrived but we were able to walk right in to our table. Our family also enjoyed the snake cafe, Senso ji Temple , shopping ,government building with views and experiencing the train system with her knowledge of the routes and ticketing process. Just cant say enough about her pleasant personality it was a tour of a lifetime that I and my Family will never forget. Sincerely, The Statham family

Thank you for your heartwarming review! It was a pleasure guiding you through Tokyo and I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the tour. Your kind words about my assistance and knowledge mean a lot to me. I'm glad the sushi reservation and our time at Senso-ji Temple and on the trains were memorable! Your feedback motivates me to provide the best experiences for my guests going foward. Thank you again for choosing me as your guide! Warm regards, Ai

Japan

Hello! My name is Grant, and I’ve spent over a decade living and exploring Japan. Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, I first came to Japan as a high school exchange student in Inuyama, a historic castle town in Aichi. My love for Japan began early—sparked by childhood games like Pokémon that were released in Japanese before English. This passion led me to pass the N2 Japanese Language Proficiency Test in 2018, study at language schools across Japan, and graduate from the Japan Visual Media Translation Academy. My work in translation and interpreting brought me into contact with notable figures in Japanese media. I’ve traveled to every prefecture in Japan, often using unlimited rail passes to explore castles, historic sites, and regional specialties. I’m particularly passionate about seafood and love traveling to places like Hokkaido and Niigata during the winter for the best crab and fatty yellowtail. I also enjoy visiting Japan's finest hot springs, especially in volcanic areas. My martial arts background includes five years of traditional Okinawan Goju-Ryu Karate, with multiple trips to the Ryukyu Islands, and experience in iaido, kyudo, and judo. I hold a degree in Asian Studies from a Tokyo university, and my extensive experience living in Tokyo has made me an expert on the city’s transportation system, hidden gems, and affordable eats. With over 30 visits to Kyoto, I have deep knowledge of its historical sites and the broader cultural landscape of Japan. Tour options: Half-Day Tour: 20,000 yen (4 hours) Full-Day Tour: 40,000 yen (8 hours) I can guide you through Tokyo, Kyoto, and other historical cities like Kanazawa, Nikko, and Kamakura. Rail fare outside Tokyo is additional. Let me show you the best of Japan!

Japan

I came to Japan in 1998, intending to stay a few months, but enjoying Japan, I never left. I was intrigued by the history, culture, language, and food. And the fascination and excitement of exploring and learning new things about Japan still exists with me today. The variety and choices of things to do and places to go can be overwhelming. I can offer you suggestions and a unique perspective on Japan. I can share local knowledge about things often missed. Fluent in Japanese with a master's degree in Japanese Studies and living in Japan for over 20 years, I can be your guide.
