Kanagawa Private Cars, Van & Transfers

You can see beautiful Japanese folkhouses from the samurai period to the former century carefully preserved.  Some are from the same area with Shirakawago, the World Heritage.  They make you feel travelling back to the past as if we used a time machine.  These houses are built without using nails.  

The farming tools,  weaving machines and daily utensils are also displayed, so I would explain about the Japanese culture, and answer your questions about them.  Some of the houses were moved from Gokayama many years before it was acknowledged as a World Heritage.  If you don't have the opportunity to visit Gokayama or Shirakawago, you can get the feel of it by visiting the houses in this museum.

After going up the hill and exiting the open-air museum, we'll walk ten minutes or so to Mt. Masugatayama, where we could view the Metropolis Tokyo.

Traveling back to Shinjuku, we will go to the observation deck of the Tokyo Metropolitan Office. During the twilight, we might be able to have a better view than daytime.  

If you still have enough energy, I can walk with you to the one of the following options: 1）Samurai Museum (1900 yen, children 3-12 800 yen) , ２) the entrance of Robot Restaurant, ３）the entrance of a beautiful Japanese restaurant using a former mansion (yashiki)：Reservation is desirable, so please tell me if you would like me to book it for you.   They could serve vegetarian cuisines if booking three days in advance,  4) Gonpachi, the Kill Bill restaurant in Roppongi, using Subway, or 5) Shibuya crossing by eight-minute train ride.

If you stay in Tokyo, not far from it, there is an ancient capital of Japan, "KAMAKURA" ,which prospered from the end of the 12th century and lasted 
150 years. During this period, Buddhism flourished and many temples were 
built in KAMAKURA. We'll visit Great Buddha, Hase Kannnon in golden color and Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine which was the gurardian diety of 
the 1st Shogun's Family and his men. If time allows and you'll still have the 
energy to walk, visit one more place, Kenchou-ji Temple or Engaku-ji Temple,
both are headquarters of Zen sects having architectual beauty.

* Saijoji Temple was built about 600 years ago, and is not one of those, so called, popular tourist spots. Deep in the mountain, very quiet, huge area with lots of big trees and old Zen Buildings, Garden, Training facilities for young monks. You may see Tengu there.
* Yosegi-zaiku is one of the officially designated Japanese Traditional Craft Products, you will make your own coaster at the local workshop.
* Odawara Castle, built in the 16th century, is the only one Samurai Castle located within 2 hour trip from Tokyo. There are gates and moats to stop the enemy soldiers, and in the castle tower you will learn the history of the local samurai leader, Hojo clan, fought against Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the first samurai leader who settled the  whole Japan. You can enjoy the beautiful view of Sagami bay(Pacific ocean) from the top of the castle tower.   

Option:
  * Hayakawa Fish Market is just one station train ride from JR Odawara station, where the fishermen's restaurant offers a fresh fish meals. The sashimi dish is very good.



Zen Temple and Samurai Castle

La ville de Kamakura a été fondée par le Shogun Yoritomo du clan des Samouraïs "Minamoto" contraste vivement la ville de Kyôto, fondée par la classe aristocratique.: La première a une atmosphère sobre et modeste alors que la dernière est somptueuse et splendide. 

 Nous commençons à nous réunir à la gare de Kamakura et marchons aux allées d'accès "Dankatsura" bordées de cerisiers qui nous mènent au temple shintoïste symbolique de l'ancienne ville. Le Torii, un grand portique, une grande allée de graviers, un théâtre en bois, la salle de culte pour les croyants, le sanctuaire principal où les trois trésors sacralisés sont installés avec un grand soin ; le miroir, le sabre et le joyaux, des étangs, etc., forment un univers qui dépasse l'espace-temps et font glisser les visiteurs vers le 12ème siècle.

 Après la promenade à Tsurugaoka-Hachilangû, nous partons  en bus de la gare de Kamakura au temple bouddhiste "Kôtoku-in" pour admirer "Kamakura Daibutsu", une grande statue d' "Amida" faite en bronze,  le chef-d'oeuvre architectural, fondu au milieu du treizième siècle. Elle est 11,4 mètres du haut, comparable à celle de Nara et a résisté à plusieurs sinistres humains et naturels (guerres, tremblements de terre..). 

 Après la visite du Daibutsu, nous abordons un grand temple bouddhiste de la branche Jôdo-shû qui représente la croyance populaire. Le bouddha principal de ce temple est "Juichimen Kannon", bodhisattva Kannon aux 11 visages ayant une hauteur de 9,18 mètres, la plus grande statue en bois de l'archipel. Il y a d'autres œuvres bouddhistes remarquables ; des centaines de statues de jizô, bodhisattva protecteur des enfants, des sanctuaires pour des divinités comme Amida, Jizô, Benzai-ten, une promenade bordée de fleurs et arbres variés, un grand clocher en bronze etc., à déguster la quintessence culturelle, religieuse et  naturelle du Japon. 

 Pour le déplacement à l'île Enoshima, nous prenons un train rétro, la ligne "Enoden", 5 minutes à pied du temple Hasedera.
Le train Enoden nous offre une belle vue de la plage de Shichiriga-hama, en se faufilant au milieu des maisons resserrées. En arrivant au terminus "Enoshima", nous suivons la rue "Subana-dôri" et passons la gare "Katase-Enoshima" de la ligne "Odakyû" à la droite. 5 minutes à pied, nous traversons le pont en béton "Benten-bashi", nous pouvons admirer à la droite un site du Mont Fuji par beau temps sachant que le premier pont en bois n'avait été qu' à l'ère Meiji et que le pont présent a été construit à l'occasion des jeux Olympiques  à Tokyo de l'année 1964. Par conséquent, avant la modernisation du Japon, tous les pèlerins étaient obligés de guetter le temps de la marée descendante pour traverser, d'où la naissance du nom " Mont-Saint-Michel du Japon!". Le passage à pied s'achève au bout de 10-15 minutes. 

 Plus de 17 millions de touristes se ruent tous les ans dans cette île d’« Enoshima.  On dit qu’une histoire d’amour légendaire d’un Dragon à cinq têtes et d’une nymphe céleste d’il y a 1.500 ans raconte l’origine de cette île. Depuis, Enoshima est réputé pour son histoite et sa divinité. Dans le temple d’Enoshima se pressent toujours de nombreux croyants qui viennet prier pour un lien solide avec leurs futurs compagnons ou pour la prospérité de leur commerce.
L’île d’Enoshima qui compte parmi les plus grands ports de plaisance est élue comme place de sailing ( course de voiliers ) aux jeux Olympiques à Tokyo en 2020. Là, vous pourrez vous réjouir de plusieurs sports maritimes non seulement de la voile, mais aussi du surfing, du canoe, du bateau à aubes sans hésitation, autant que vous voudrez mais pour une autre fois.

 Le premier pas à l’île commence par l'allée d’accès au temple d’Enoshima, très animée. Sur les deux côtés bordés de magasins, de différents souvenirs et des produits de mer vous attirent sans cesse. 
 Pour commencer les parcours touristiques, nous achetons « One day passport » qui se vend au guichet des tickets pour l'escalier roulant « Escar », situé au premier arrondissement de l’île, près de l’Escar. C'est un ticket à tarif réduit privilégié.  

 En montant sur l'escalier roulant, nous visitons le temple d’Enoshima dont l'origine remonte au 562 de l’ère chrétienne. Le coeur du temple « Hôanden » fut construit pour défier « Myouon-Benzaiten », très connue comme une des trois grandes déesses «Benzaiten» ainsi qu’une autre « Happi-Benzaiten » qui a huit bras, fait à l’époque de Kamakura. Dans « Hetsuno-miya », un des sanctuaires du temple d’Enoshima, se vendent « Ema » , tablette en bois sur laquelle un cheval est dessiné ou d’autres fétiches.

 En remontant sur l'escalier roulant après la visite du temple de Shinto, c'est le jardin de Samuel Cocking qui vous accueille. Il se trouve au sommet de l’ile est aussi un endroit touristique, très populaire auprès des visiteurs.
Dans le jardin, de différentes fleurs de chaque saison plaisent aux yeux des visiteurs toute l’année. De plus, on pourra s’amuser à la promenade sans souci aux alentours d’une place publique qui symbolise le lien d’amitié entre la ville de Fujisawa et les villes jumelées ainsi que les villes d’amitié.

 Au fond du jardin botanique, on arrive au dernier endroit touristique « Sea candle » , une tour emblématique d’Enoshima, qui joue le rôle de phare.
La tour est aussi connue pour belvédère qui donne une vue panoramique de 360 degrés, non seulement de l’île mais aussi celle de la baie de Sagami et du mont Fuji. Je vous dis au revoir sur cette place vers 18 heures au plus tard. 

 Ceux qui veulent rester dans ces environs, vous aurez l'occasion d'apprécier la tour illuminée comme une bougie qui éclaire la mer, d’où la naissance du nom « Enoshima sea candle ». Entre le décembre et le février, des manifestations d’éclairage dignes du nom «Pierreries de Shônan » sont prévues ; Pendant cette période, tout le jardin sera décoré par des illuminations en plusieurs couleurs. Cette festivité est reconnue comme « une des plus grandes illuminations  » dans la Région de Kanto.
