I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I am excited to show you around beautiful places that I love. I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort. Hello, I'm Setsuko! I am living in Shizuoka City, Home of Mt. Fuji. It is a very attractive local city located in the middle of Japan. It takes about only one hour from Tokyo or Nagoya by the super express Shinkansen. I’d love to introduce you some historical places related to the first shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa, local arts and crafts and modern hobby manufactures as well as local specialities such as green tea, citrus fruits, and fresh seafood. Let’s visit scenic spots on the base of Mt. Fuji together. You can not miss many hot spring resorts in Izu Peninsula. I also recommend visiting industrial musems of Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda,Toyota, etc. in Hamamatsu area. People in Shizuoka are very friendly and welcome guests from overseas. Since 2007 I have been an English-speaking tour guide, visiting most of the major sightseeing spots in Japan with international travelers. At the same time I have been working as an translator, mainly dealing with technical documents. Shizuoka prefecture has a number of spots for sightseeing, but they have not been fully covered in English-language travel books or on the Internet. “Lovely Day Trip from Shimizu Port to Mt.Fuji area”

Yasuko was very communicative before the trip started. She met us at the port and guided us to the Mt.Fuji area using trains and taxis throughout the day. We had fun on the bullet train and loved the green tea plantation experience! We also learned a lot at Fujisanhongu Sengentaisha and were fortunate to see Mt.Fuji come out on the train ride back to Shimizu Port. Yasuko is so kind and such a wonderful tour guide. She planned a great day that we will never forget! Thank you so much for guiding us that day!

“My Fuji with Yasuko”

Yasuko was a great guide for a day trip to Mt Fuji 5th Station, noodle lunch, Mt Fuji World Heritage Center and Fujisan Hongu Sensen shrine. Yasuko speaks and writes fluent English, so was easy to communicate with via the Go with Guide email to set the itinerary several months ahead. She met my husband and me at the cruise port terminal. We used a combination of public transport and taxi (she reserved) for the tour, and I knew the costs for train and taxi prior. We had a great day, and I would highly recommend Yasuko!
