After graduation, I have traveled to a lot of countries such as Europe, U, S., Asia and lived in Australia for a year. I had a great time to visit there to have a wonderful experience. I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains. Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I am excited to show you around beautiful places that I love. I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort. After becoming a guide, I met with guests from various backgrounds, and I feel grateful once again, for my experience to be exposed to different cultures in my youth. Let’s have a good time together!

Hello, I'm Setsuko! I am living in Shizuoka City, Home of Mt. Fuji. It is a very attractive local city located in the middle of Japan. It takes about only one hour from Tokyo or Nagoya by the super express Shinkansen. I’d love to introduce you some historical places related to the first shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa, local arts and crafts and modern hobby manufactures as well as local specialities such as green tea, citrus fruits, and fresh seafood. Let’s visit scenic spots on the base of Mt. Fuji together. You can not miss many hot spring resorts in Izu Peninsula. I also recommend visiting industrial musems of Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda,Toyota, etc. in Hamamatsu area. People in Shizuoka are very friendly and welcome guests from overseas. Why don’t we share a wonderful time here in Shizuoka?

Since 2007 I have been an English-speaking tour guide, visiting most of the major sightseeing spots in Japan with international travelers. At the same time I have been working as an translator, mainly dealing with technical documents. Shizuoka prefecture has a number of spots for sightseeing, but they have not been fully covered in English-language travel books or on the Internet. So, as a local tour guide, through the TripleLights services, I am hoping to introduce some of the attractiveness of this region to the international visitors.

This tour takes you more closer to Mt.Fuji, visiting Fujinomiya, which is 30km east of Shimizu port. This city is located on the southern foot of Mt.Fuji, being away only 20km from the top. There are so many spots worth seeing gifted from Mt.Fuji. Also, the gorgeous view of the mountain is always at the side of you. For going to and from there, we can take the local railways, which must be a fun experience, too.

Shimizu Tour Reviews

Fantastic visit around Mt Fuji

We hired Motoyuki for a full day trip from the cruise port to the areas around Mt Fuji and had a fantastic time. We talked with many other people from our ship who took other excursions around the area, and none of them had an experience anything like ours. We took public transportation, and then a hired car Motoyuki had arranged. Not only did we get amazing views of Mt Fuji, but visited waterfalls, a sake brewery, a fantastic lunch, and a tea house! Amazing. Motoyuki is very, very familiar with the area and knew exactly what to show us. It was a fantastic day, and I would not hesitate to give Motoyuki our highest recommendation to anyone considering him.

Thanks for the awesome review of my work! I always intend to offer the place's indigenous attractions, not for tourists. I am so happy that you understood the concept and enjoyed it! Great appreciation for you.

Half day tour with local guide.

We loved the variety of experiences the day with Yasuko offered. We particularly enjoyed the green tea plantation. Amico, our host was so inviting and could not have been friendlier and more helpful. Our guide was very organised and made our day simple but interesting and gave us a good local Japanese experience.

Thank you so much for the excellent review you wrote. I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed visiting the green tea plantation. Yes, Emiko was so kind and helpful. It was an unplanned visit because of the Mt.Fuji World Heritage Center's irregular inspection closing day. We could see a magnificent Mt.Fuji.
