Le château de Himeji est l’un des 12 châteaux japonais encore très bien conservés avec leurs donjons de bois encore existants. Aux alentours du château, le temple Engyo-ji, à l'histoire millénaire trône sur le mont Shosha. Lieu de tournage fréquent, ce temple a notamment été rendu célèbre par le film "Le dernier samouraï". Nous pouvons aussi aller visiter le grand pont du détroit d'Akashi puis Gigantor, symbole du renouveau du Japon, de son génie technologique et de sa culture-pop.

Himeji Station
Le château de Himeji
Le château de Himeji, surnommé le château du héron blanc de par sa couleur, est un château fort japonais. Il date de l’époque médiévale et fait parti des 12 seuls châteaux japonais à avoir été parfaitement conservés. L’UNESCO a d’ailleurs désigné ce château part du patrimoine mondiale de l’humanité. C’est magnifique ! Et maintenant, il s’offre à nos visites.
Le jardin Koko-en
Nous pouvons visiter le jardin Koko-en, à l’endroit où résidait autrefois le seigneur du château. Le Jardin est récent et date de 1992. 3,5 hectares de nature luxuriante et 13 jardins thématiques magnifient l’époque Edo. Les amoureux des jardins botaniques seront ravis.
Le temple Engyo-ji
Le château constitue la première attraction de la ville de Himeji mais le temple Engyo-ji trône encore plus loin, perché dans la montagne. Nous pouvons profiter de la journée après avoir visité le château pour nous enfoncer dans le mont Shosha et pour aller visiter ce temple, haut lieu d'Histoire et qui a aussi été un des lieu de tournage du célèbre film "Le dernier samouraï". C’est magnifique ! Un petit trajet en bus puis en téléphérique et nous y sommes.
Le grand pont du détroit d'Akashi
Le grand pont du détroit d’Akashi (Akashi Kaikyo Ohashi) se trouve dans la ville du même nom, entre Himeji et Kobé. Cette merveille de génie civil technologique constitue une halte intéressante après avoir visité le château du héron blanc. Nous descendons à la gare Maiko, sur la ligne Sanyo entre les deux villes vedettes du Hyogo et nous le voyons, là, majestueux, reliant Honshu à l’île d’Awaji à traver la mer intérieure de Seto.
La statue de Gigantor
Les Japonais sont très friands de robots et cette tendance se retrouve de par le monde. C’est symbole de solidité et de modernité. Et c’est pourquoi il a été décidé de donner à Kobé ce symbole d’espoir après toutes les épreuves que la ville a dû traverser. Gigantor est un robot géant de 18 mètres de fer. Ce symbole des mangas, de la japanimation, et de la pop-culture japonaise trône fièrement sur Nagata, quartier de Kobé.

Thank you Philippe for your review. I am glad you appreciated my support. Osaka does have a rich history and monuments from the 3rd Century and before (available to see in other tours), however the tour you booked is focused on the modern side of the city for 4 hours. We also visited Tsuyunoten Jinja, which dates from the 9th century. I hope you enjoyed Osaka during your trip.

Himeji Castle and neighborhood 1 day trip
Himeji Castle is one of the 12 Japanese castles well conserved with their wooden keeps. Nearby the castle, Engyo-ji temple, on Mount Shosha, has got a thousand years long history. Some scene from "The last Samurai" movie were taken there.
