Miyazaki can be a difficult place to get around by public transport so let me take you to historical Miyazaki Jingu Shrine, the viewpoint at Heiwadai Park, the coast at Sea Gaia, and on foot in the center of the city to the best shopping, eating and drinking spots. I can introduce local specialties like chicken namban, mangoes, hyuga natsu fruit, charcoal-grilled free range chicken, and shochu, a beloved spirit made here. This tour can last 4 to 7 hours with the activities and times negotiable.

Meeting Point
At the client's hotel in Miyazaki City, or at Miyazaki airport or train station
- To be negotiated with the client
Miyazaki Jingu Shrine and Heiwadai Park
Forested Miyazaki Jingu (shrine) is one of Japan's most beautiful, nestled inside extensive grounds of cedar and pine. From there we drive up to the city's highest point at Heiwadai Park with its wartime monument and Haniwa clay dolls. Lunch can be taken in the area. About 90 minutes to 2 hours in total is needed to visit both sights. An option for a rainy day is to visit the impressive nearby Miyazaki Museum of Nature, a cut or two above your average local museum and one that sums up the history and environment of Miyazaki very well.
Sea Gaia Coast
Next we head to the coast by car (20 minutes) and view the beautiful Pacific coastline from the manicured grounds of the beach park/marina and Miyazaki's top resort area, plus a stroll through a forest of pines, rarely visited by overseas guests. Allow 60-90 minutes. A lunch of about 40 minutes can be taken either before or after visiting the coast. One option here, is to extend your time at the Florante Miyazaki Gardens, a fixture among Japanese visitors to Miyazaki.
Miyazaki City
Finally, we head to the city center (20 minutes by car) for an on-foot shopping, food, and drink tour. Let me guide you through myriad eateries, especially those dealing in local specialties. I'll take you through the entertainment district and, if you want, will introduce you to a few hidden local restaurants and drinkeries that you'd probably never enter on your own. Then, enjoy it by yourself, or buy your guide a drink and I'll be there to guide and explain! Total time should be about two hours.
Ending Point
Same as the starting point or at any departure point in downtown Miyazaki City

Originally from Canada, I've been living in Japan for 35 years, most of that in Miyazaki. I speak the language and I know the area better than most locals. In Miyazaki, there is a lack of public transport so I'd be happy to drive you to places like Aoshima (a beautiful beach and surfing hub), Udo Jingu (a unique seaside shrine), the samurai and merchant residences of Obi, and introduce you to the best spots for local food, shopping, or nightlife, as well as let you in on a few hidden secrets of Miyazaki if you have the time.
