The Tokugawa Mausoleum was built in 1643 by Iemitsu Tokugawa the third shogun of Edo Tokugawa shogunate.

There are two Mausolea in the site. To the right is the mausoleum of the first shogun, Ieyasu Tokugawa and on the left is the mausoleum of Hidetada Tokugawa, the second shogun.

Nyonindo (Women's Hall) is located at the Fudo Slope Entrance of Koyasan.

Koyasan has been the strict Buddhist training ground.

Therefore women were not allowed to enter Koyasan before 1872.

There were seven residences for women pilgrims at each of seven entrances.

Now there is only one remaining at the Fudo Slope Entrance.
