Arrival at Shirakawa-go (Ogimachi Village)

Explore the iconic "Gassho-zukuri" thatched-roof farmhouses.

Visit the Shiroyama Viewpoint for the famous panoramic view of the village.

Optional visits to historical houses such as the Wada-ke or Kanda-ke.

Local Gastronomy Lunch

Enjoy a traditional meal in a quieter area away from the main tourist crowds. Recommendations include Hida Beef, Iwana (spotted char, river trout) or Soba noodles.

Inami or Johana

On the way back to Kanazawa, we will pass through the beautiful towns of Inami—famous for its traditional wood carving and craftworks—and Johana, which is known as the 'Little Kyoto' of Hokuriku and renowned for its Mingei (folk arts). We can stop by one of these towns to take a walk through the historic streets if time allows.

*Flexible Schedule: Start and end times are fully adjustable to match your ship's arrival and "all-aboard" times.


*Kanazawa Station Pickup: For guests staying in Kanazawa City, pickup at Kanazawa Station is also available. In this case, please cover the ¥500 parking fee for the station area.


*Kanazawa Extension: If time permits, we can extend the tour to include Kanazawa’s highlights, such as Kenrokuen Garden or the Samurai District (additional $60/hour).


*Peak Season Contingency: During peak seasons (such as summer), parking at Shirakawa-go can become unavailable. In such cases, we may visit the Gokayama region in Toyama instead. Gokayama is also a UNESCO World Heritage site featuring the same iconic "Gassho-zukuri" architecture but offers a more tranquil and intimate atmosphere.


*Vehicle & Group Size: standard private tour uses a Suzuki Jimny, which comfortably accommodates up to 2 guests.


*For groups of 3 to 7 guests, we can arrange a larger vehicle. Please contact us for a customized itinerary and pricing.

A short but memorable day!

We were blessed with a beautiful sunny day for our tour of Gokayama and the Ainokura Gasso-Fukui Village with Naoto. He shared some of his own memories of growing up in a similar home and helped us understand more about the culture & history of the area.
