One of Porto's many lovely squares, where Porto's University Rectory is located (of neoclassical style, this building also houses the Museum of Science as well as the Zoology, Geological Sciences and Archeology and Prehistory Museums of the Institute of Anthropology).
Standing side by side, these two churches are separated by one of the world’s narrowest houses.
Housed in a neo-gotic building, Lello Bookstore, the oldest bookshop in the city, is considered to be the most beautiful library in Europe and the third most beautiful in the world.
Considered a National Monument, since 1910, Clérigos Church and Tower are part of an 18th century Baroque style building, which marked the city's urban landscape. One of the most emblematic monuments in the city, Clérigos Tower is the tallest campanile in Portugal.
Regarded as Porto's city centre, Aliados Avenue connects the old town with the modern part of the city. Flanked by ornate buildings in a range of architectural styles, from neoclassical to French Beaux-arts, this avenue is home to some of the city's most prestigious hotels along with a number of banks. Standing at the head of the Avenida is the stately City Hall.
One of Portugal's most striking railway stations, decorated with over 20,000 blue and white tiles in the main hall.
Enjoy an absolutely delicious lunch at one of the most beloved family-owned little restaurant of Porto.
Built in the highest part of the city, next to the walls that once protected the city, the Cathedral is the most important religious building in Porto.
In the oldest part of the city, this quarter is one of the most colourful and picturesque neighbourhoods of Porto, known for its intricate group of high houses that seem to bend and narrow medieval streets.
Part of the city's historic centre, this 19th-century Palace is a marvel of neoclassical architecture. Considered the city's Reception Hall, it has played host to the most important official ceremonies, with receptions being organised for many of the world's leading statesmen.
This Church is certainly one of the most impressive architectural monuments of the city of Porto. Initially a gothic building, modified throughout time, this landmark has a dazzling intricate gold guilting and remains one of the most celebrated worksof Baroque in the country.
The double-decker Luis I bridge is an icon of the city of Porto. It spans the River Douro linking the Port wine houses of Vila Nova de Gaia with the bustling downtown Ribeira district of Porto.
Created in 1979 from the legacy of the Porto's School of Fine Arts, FAUP is one of the most reputable architecture schools in the world. Important architects were trained and taught here, such as Álvaro Siza Vieira and Eduardo Souto Moura, the only two Portuguese architects to have won the Pritzker Prize, considered the ‘Nobel Prize’ of architecture. The complex of buildings that has housed FAUP since 1992 is also one of the most emblematic creations of Siza Vieira's career.
Halfway between the historic centre and Foz, we find a building with a volume and originality that are hard to miss: Casa da Música. Designed by the prestigious Dutch architect and urban planner Rem Koolhaas, it was conceived to serve an innovative cultural project for Porto 2001 - European Capital of Culture.
The Serralves Museum is considered one of the best museums in Europe dedicated to contemporary art. The building, designed by the architect Siza Vieira, is surrounded by the Serralves Park, where works of art by various contemporary artists are also exhibited, alongside the typical flora of the northern region of Portugal.
Enjoy an absolutely delicious lunch at a traditional restaurant in Matosinhos.
Designed by the architect Luís Pedro Silva, this Cruise Terminal quickly became an ex-libris of the city of Matosinhos . The building, whose configuration resembles the moorings of the boats to the quays, combines with its avant-garde shape a coating inspired by one of the most traditional Portuguese decorative materials: the tile.
Located in Leça da Palmeira beach, one of the longest stretches of sand in the north of Portugal, this saltwater swimming pool, designed by the architect Álvaro Siza Vieira and built between 1961 and 1966, is integrated into the landscape.
Built on the rocks, just two metres from the water, with the sea in the background, the Boa Nova Tea House, designed by architect Siza Vieira, is one of the most popular places for architecture lovers. Built in 1958, in March 2011 the building was classified as a National Monument, along with the Piscina das Marés.

“Fantastic Walking Tour”
Susanna was fantastic! Her vast knowledge of the city enhanced the tour and gave us one of our best experiences in Porto. She added a personal touch with stories to the tour which everyone in the party enjoyed and took us to a few of her local favorite stops. At the end of the tour she provided us with maps, guides and recommendations to help us keep exploring. I would highly recommend her to anyone visiting and will look to utilize her services when we return! Thanks Susanna!

“Incredible Tour of Porto”
I booked a private tour with Susana for a group of 17 people. We were in Porto for a company offsite and the tour was the highlight of the trip for us. Susana shared many incredible facts about the city and mixed in her own personal stories that made us feel at home in Porto. She also helped us with a last minute reservation in an incredible restaurant. Susana is lovely and I can't recommend her enough!
