The name of the festival is 鷹狩り行列 (takagari gyoretsu) in Japanese.

The festival will be held in a small castle town Iwatsuki in Saitama city.

November 3. 13:00-15:30.

The highlight of the festival is a scene that a feudal lord of the town welcomed Tokugawa Ieyasu when he visited the town. It is one of the actual events that occurred many years ago.

Ieyasu was the founder of the Tokugawa Shogunate about 400 years ago. He often came to the town for hawking which means hunting using a falcon.

More than 100 people from the town will parade in samurai’s costumes or in beautiful traditional kimonos. They will dance and act out the historical events.

You can take photos of cats and spend time with them for about one hour. After the cat cafe, we will walk to the station through Harmonica alley in Kichijoji where many nostalgic small restaurants and shops are located. Kichijoji has been voted as the number one town for many years where Tokyoites want to live.　 The tour will end at the front gate of Takeshita Street in Harajuku. There are many fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants. On this tour we will stroll in Ueno Park, a large public park next to Ueno station. The park is filled with museums, temples, shrines and a zoo. In spring, people enjoy parties under the cherry blossoms. We will visit Toshogu Shrine, Kiyomizu Kannon Temple, Shinobazu pond and Bentendo temple. The tour will be operated at a slow pace rather than usual tours so that you can take photos at your favorite scenery and take time to enjoy your tour. After walking in the park, we will head to Ameyoko shopping street where you can enjoy shopping or you can satisfy yourself with window shopping. For your lunch, we’d like to recommend a Chinese restaurant in Ameyoko where you can eat tasty ramen at a reasonable price of around 800yen. The restaurant is popular among Japanese workers as a lunch eatery, so you can also experience the real environment of Japanese workers.
