Naoto K.
Hello! I’m Naoto. I was born and raised in the dramatic landscape of Toyama, with Kanazawa as my favorite weekend playground since my young-hood. I am thrilled that you are considering the Hokuriku region for your Japanese journey. After living abroad and spending decades in Tokyo area, I returned to my roots with a clear mission: to share the authentic, soulful Japan that remains tucked away from the crowds. In Toyama and Kanazawa, you won’t just see history—you will feel it. This is a region of "hidden gems," where ancient traditions and pristine nature coexist in their purest form. I specialize in taking you where the tour buses don’t go. Whether we are: Unlocking Samurai Legacies: Exploring the hidden corridors of Kanazawa’s history and the delicate mastery of its gold-leaf artisans. Savoring the Secret Harvest: Dining at secluded mountain retreats or tasting the "jewels of the sea" fresh from Toyama Bay. Immersive Nature & Tradition: From the dramatic peaks of the Northern Alps to the quiet craftsmanship of woodcarving villages and local festivals. Pop Culture & Local Legends: Diving into the world of manga, anime, and folklore known only to those who live here. Because of my years overseas, I understand the curiosity and the "why" behind an international traveler's questions. I don’t just show you the sights; I translate the culture, bridging the gap between a visitor and a local. Every itinerary is 100% customized to your pace, your interests, and your sense of adventure. Let’s step off the beaten path together. Reach out today, and let’s start planning your one-of-a-kind Japanese adventure! Yoshie K.
Hi, I am Yoshie. I am a national government licensed English speaking Guide. I used to work for multinational companies and served as an interpreter for several years and travelled around Japan with coworkers. I love plants, nature, travelling as well as finding good places to eat! I am also a communicative person. After having lived in Tokyo for some decades, now I live in my hometown, Fukui where you can have a great experience of Zen buddhism in the head temple of the Zen sect, Eiheiji which was founded in 1244. Fukui Dinosaur Museum is very popular regardless of age. It is one of the world's three largest dinosaurs. Echizen is also well known for Japan's handmade crafts including kitchen knives, washi paper, lacquer wares, Tansu chests and pottery. Seeing craftsmen's work right in front of you makes you excited and impressed. I have been travelling Kanazawa since my high school age so I know well about the town to show you around as well as Shirakawago, a day trip from Kanazawa. I am excited to meet you and coordinate what you are really interested in to make you the happiest memories in Japan. I look forward to guiding you soon!

Welcome to Hokuriku! I’m based in Kanazawa and would love to show you around not just the famous sights, but also the everyday beauty and hidden corners that make this region special. I also provide winter tours and have a logistics team for your expedient comfort needs and convenience. Whether you're strolling through samurai districts, sampling fresh seafood at a local market, or soaking in the peaceful atmosphere of mountain villages like Takayama, Shirakawa-go or Ainokura among many more, I’ll help you experience Japan in a way that feels personal, relaxed, and real. I grew up in BC Canada with friends from all over the world, and now call Japan home. I speak conversational Japanese and understand both the traveler’s curiosity and the local rhythm of life. That means I can help bridge the gap, so you feel comfortable and connected wherever we go. Every tour is flexible—if the weather shifts or something catches your eye, we can adapt. My goal is to make your time here smooth, engaging, and full of insight. Let’s explore Hokuriku together, one story, flavor, and moment at a time.

Michiko N.
Hello, I am Michiko , the same name of Japanese ex-Empress. I am a government certified tour guide. I have lived in Nagoya ( located between Tokyo and Osaka) for 35 years since I got married. I worked for JAL as a flight attendant in my 20's. After retiring JAL, I have taught English and Mathematics to junior and senior high school students for 20 years. I love traveling very much both domestically and abroad and enjoy walking around each city and talking with local people so that I can find out the way how to they live and think about their life. It's quite a fun for me. I also love hiking and mountain climbing in spring, summer and autumn, and skiing in winter. In the countryside of Japan there still remain those farming and fishery villages where people have been rooted in their land and community, living the way handed down from generation to generation. You can also enjoy the original Japanese landscape there. Why don't you get out of the hustle and bustle of your busy life and have a rest rich in nature in the rural Japan enjoying beautiful scenery and local food. I'm waiting for you!

Shirakawago Tour Reviews
Devon S.
“Mostly Excellent ”
Overall Tetsuji san was an excellent guide. He showed up punctually and was very knowledgeable of the area. He was able to answer our questions and showed us around in a very efficient manner. We went to the observatory, 2 different gassho houses, shrine, and the river. We also enjoyed the restaurant he reserved for lunch. His English was not native level, but more than competent for 4 Americans. We didn't have any issues communicating. He was also very personable. The only drawback was that he wanted to take us to a cafe, but it was too busy so we skipped it. This led to the tour ending about an hour early. This caused half the group to walk around some more by themselves for about 45 mins, while the other half waited at the bus stop.

Thank you very much for nice review including detailed evaluation. I only regrettably feel sad that I didn't help you to enjoy relaxing in a cafe sipping tea of coffee. However, I am glad to know that you are mostly satisfied with my tour. If you have a chance to visit central Japan again, I would like to guide you to other attractive tourist destinations.

“Knowledgeable and friendly guide for Shirakawa-go”
Tetsuji organized a day trip to Shirakawa-go for my multigenerational family group, including arranging for a driver to pick us up from our hotel in Takayama. He is very friendly and speaks English well. He was very knowledgeable about the history and cultural practices of the traditional village, and we enjoyed spending the day with him and learning more about Japanese life from his perspective.

I appreciate your nice review for me. All of your words become my motivation for next job and lead me having chances to meet new guests. I also hope you come back to Japan and share a wonderful time with me again. Please best my regards to your all family members.

“Great day in Shirakawago”
We had a wonderful day with Bonnie as our tour guide in Shirakawago. Bonnie arranged bus tickets for the short drive from Takayama to Shirakawago , and then from Shirakawago we went on to Kanazawa. Bonnie is absolutely delightful, so friendly and kind. We learned so much from her and highly recommend her as a tour guide. Shirakawago is in incredible place. Bonnie also helped me when I left behind an item at our ryokan in Takayama. She took extra time to contact the hotel to explain what happened and it all worked out fine. It was a great day.
