The Living Nature of Amami Oshima (7.5 Hours): Mangrove Canoe, Yuwandake View & Waterfall
Experience the living nature of Amami Oshima at a relaxed pace.
This tour includes scenic views from Yuwandake View, a canoe experience
through the mangrove forest, and a short walk to a quiet waterfall.
It is not a hiking tour and is designed to be accessible and enjoyable
for most travelers.

Meeting Point
Your Hotel / Amami Airport / Naze Ferry Port
- I will pick you up at your desired location. This tour starts in the morning to reach the mangrove park in time for the canoe experience.
Mt. Yuwandake Viewpoint
We begin the day at Yuwandake Park Viewpoint, enjoying panoramic views
from the area of Amami Oshima’s highest and sacred mountain.
Canoe Experience at Mangrove Park
We join a group canoe experience operated by the park, which may include other participants.
An English-speaking instructor may accompany the group depending on availability.
I will assist with interpretation when needed and take photos during the activity.
・Admission Fee to Mangrove Park ( including 60 minute canoe tour) is 3,000 yen per person
Lunch
After the canoe experience, we stop for lunch at a local restaurant.
Lunch: approximately JPY 1,500–2,000 per person
Please note that some local restaurants in Amami, including Yottemitei, accept cash only.
If needed, we can choose a restaurant that accepts credit cards.
Amami-Oshima World Heritage Conservation Center
We make a short stop at the Amami World Natural Heritage Center,
where you will learn about endemic species and the unique ecosystem
that led Amami to be designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site.
This visit helps deepen your understanding before exploring the forest area.

Funangyo Waterall
After a relaxed lunch break, we head into the forest to visit Funangyo Waterfall.
We walk for about 15 minutes along a forest path to reach the waterfall.
This gentle walk allows us to slow down and experience a quiet,
more spiritual side of Amami’s nature.
Modama Tree Habitat
We finish the journey by slowing down and enjoying the calm atmosphere of Amami Oshima.

Tour Important Information
・Please wear non-slip shoes and comfortable clothing.
・You may get slightly wet during the mangrove canoe experience.
・If you have any concerns or special requests, please let me know in
advance.
・The tour price cannot be changed, but the itinerary can be adjusted by
reducing stops and spending more time at each place.
・This tour runs rain or shine, except in severe weather. Rain is part of
Amami’s nature, and Yuwandake may be cloudy at times.
