Japan

Hi I'm Eiji, an English tour guide in Amami Ōshima. Born in Tokyo and left the crazy town when I was 22 years old with my little backpack. Spent about 3 years to see and experience the world, more than 25 countries in total, and lived in a couple of different part of Japan, such as Yakushima, Izu, and Kochi. And finally, drifted to the southern subtropic island, Amami Ōshima in 2015. I have worked as an English tour guide for an Australian company for 3 years and also worked as a sea kayak tour guide for 3 years, love to show people around my favorite places. My hobbies are outdoor activities such as canoeing, surfing and camping. Traveling, eating and drinking as well! I'm looking forward to sharing our time and traveling together on this beautiful island.

Kagoshima Tour Guide - Shiho F.

Shiho F.

Japan

I was born and raised on the Osumi Peninsula in the eastern part of Kagoshima Prefecture. In elementary school, I walked 4 km one way to school. I used to fuss with the neighborhood children about the kappa (a well-known Japanese specter, water imps) in the creek. In summer, I drank from the freshwater flowing into the eel pond on my way home and picked wild strawberries to eat. I aim to be a guide who can provide such "unique" and exciting experiences that I cultivated as a child. I am a local, and I can give you a guide who understands the area. I have a husband, a son, a daughter, and two cats. My home is in a rich natural environment, and in early summer, you can hear the call of the ruddy kingfisher!

Amami Tour Reviews

Great trip to see the ferns

Eiji is very kind and knowledgeable. He came very punctually at 5.30 am to pick me at the hotel. But it is better you book directly with him and avoid this platform which takes a ridiculous one-third in fees for providing very basic functionality.

Materiya Waterfall, Kuninao Village, Hisakura restaurant for lunch, Oshima Tsumugimura Kimino Museum

What a wonderful day and so well planned and organised. We were met on time, his knowledge of the area and its industries was insightful and we enjoyed every detail of the day he had planned. The Materiya Waterfall was beautiful, the takakura and Kuninao Village interesting and the lunch was a new and wonderful experience for us. We truly began to appreciate the making of kimono silk when we visited the factory. It was an amazing day with a fantastic guide.
