(Central Mito )
Mito city, located 100 km northeast of Tokyo, can be reached in 70 minutes by express train from Tokyo station.

1 Kairaku-en Garden(Highly recommended, Free)
Built in 1841 by the local lord, Tokugawa Nariaki, Kairaku-en is one of Japan's three finest landscape gardens where you can see various kinds of flowers throughout the year. The garden is most famous for its over 3,000 plum trees and popular during the blossom season(Late Feb to Mid - March). 
Besides the plum trees Kairakuen also features a bamboo grove, cedar woods and the Kobuntei(200yen), a traditional Japanese style building.
From the Kobuntei,you can enjoy a great view of Kairakuen and nearby Lake Senba.
It takes 15 minutes by bus from Mito station.

2 Kodo-kan Hall (200yen)
Built in 1841 by Tokugawa Nariaki, it was one of the largest domain schools in Japan, where the sons of samurai were educated.
Kodokan is also famous for its over 800 plum trees as well as Kairaku-en Garden.
It is a 10-minute walk from Mito Station.


(Hitachi-naka Area) Katsuta is 5 minutes by train from Mito.

3 Hitachi Seaside Park(450yen, Highly Recommended. Closed on Mondays)
  A wide variety of seasonal flower gardens and the most popular spot in Ibaraki prefecture. 
 Taking "Seaside train"(One day pass 600yen) is recommended if you are not good at walking for a long time.
 (Blooming season Kochia (autumn red tint):Early to mid Oct.
 It takes 15 minutes by bus from Katsuta Station.

4 Saza Coffee Main
   You can taste delicious coffee in stylish space with foliage.
   It is a 10 minute walk from Katsuta Station.

(Oarai & Nakaminato, Seaside area) 
Oarai town is 30 minutes by bus or 15 minutes by train from Mito.
Nakaminato town  is 15 minutes by train from Katsuta and just 10 minutes by bus from Oarai.

5 Nakaminato Fish Market
    Enjoy fresh seafood and shopping

6  Aqua world Oarai(1850yen)
   One of the largest aquarium in Japan. You can meet about 68,000 sea creatures of about 580 species.

7 Oarai Isosaki Shrine
  A historic Shinto shrine located on a bluff above the ocean.

 
(Naka area) 20 minutes by train from Mito
7 Kiuchi sake brewery
     The craft beer here is very popular almost as same as sake.
     Let's taste it with delicious soba lunch.

(Kasama area) 30 minutes by train from Mito.
A Popular old city for ceramics . 
Let's enjoy Sake tasting, visiting  the Museum  at which famous artists works  such as Monet are exhebited, visiting the old shrine, Taste local Malon sweets or Try Ceramic Art experience. 

8 Shunpu- Banri- So 
    An old house which has dry landscape garden. Autumn foliage there is superb.( Best time is Mid-November.)

  １　Izura Coast  
  A picturesque place for its beautiful seashore with different shapes of bays and a pine tree forest. Its name came to be known for what Tenshin Okakura,a leading figure who contributed to the modernization of  Japanese art  ,moved there from Tokyo in 1903. Tenshin Museum exhibits various precious materials such as the first edition of "Book of Tea" penned by Tenshin. Rokkaku-do(Hexagonal Building ) and Cape Izura park are the unmissable points, and you can imagine that  ex-famous painters during Meiji era  worked hard at fictionization if you stand on this ground.

2 Seafood
  Please try the local specialty . Especially in winter Angler fish  pot is very popular . This dish has a lot of coragen , making your skin more beautiful.

3 Aquamarine Fukushima(recommended)
A Huge Aquarium oprated by Fukushima Prefecture.

(JR Hitachi Station)
Station building made of glass is very unique and you can play the street piano looking the coast line there. 

(Mito) Mito is the capital of Ibaraki Prefecture.

1 Kairakuen Park
  It is one of the three great landscape gardens in Japan.
From February to Mid March, About 3,000 Plum trees are in bloom.
Please appreciate the stunning scenery and lovely scent.

(Daigo Town)
1 Fukuroda Falls
  It is a very famous 120 metre high waterfall in Ibaraki. 
  The falls are ranked one of the three most beautiful waterfalls in Japan, along with Kegon Falls(Tochigi) and Nachi Falls(Wakayama).
 From the observatory, you can see the  breathtaking views of the waterfalls on four layers of rocks with gushing down. In February,  the waterfall may freeze(up to the weather).
  
※ Tsukimachi Falls　It takes 15 minutes by taxi from Daigo station.
 It is a 17m high waterfall. You can walk behind the waterfalls. 

2 Lunch 
  In Daigo town, you can taste various delicious local food such as  chicken, soba, wasabi(horseradish),  Yuba(bean-curd skin), grilled ayu(sweet fish) ,apple, green tea, etc.
 A soba restaurant is by Tsukimachi Falls. Chicken dish restaurant and cozy cafe are located near Daigo Station.  Also there are several restaurants and tea houses near Fukuroda Falls.

3  Hot Spa(Onsen  Option)
 There are some hot spa facility near Fukuroda Falls .You can relax at onsen on a day trip.
Or you  can finish the tour there and stay overnight.
 

(Naka City)
4 Kiuchi Sake Brewery (Option)
A famous brewery that is well known for their Hitachino Nest Beer . Craft Beer and Plum Wine are also  popular.

(Mito City)
5 Kairakuen Park (Entry 300 yen)
 It is one of Japan's three great land scape gardens in Japan.



 



Fukuroda Falls  & Mito Kairakuen Garden

First we will visit Jaxa(Japan Aerospace exploration association),Tsukuba Space Center.You can also request site tour(from 11:30) of Tsukuba Space center.
.Finally we will visit the world tallest Image of Budda,Ushiku Daibutsu. You can climb to the top of Daibutsu and view over the Kanto plain.
