During the Edo period(A.D.1600 -1868) , Mt.Oyama became a popular pilgrimage site for common people.
We will view this unique pilgrimage main destinations -Oyama-dera Temple and Afuri-jinja Shrine.
After Mt. Oyama, we will visit Shinyokohama Ramen museum where we can learn about the culture and history of ramen and taste ramen noodles- there are 8 ramen restaurants in the old Japan street atmosphere and you can even make your own Cup Ramen.
You can learn Edo period and Current Japan in one day.

- There are several stations at Shinyokohama. I will deside which station is easy to accesss from your hotel. Detail will be informed later.

take Sotetsu line to Isehara through Ebina
we will change railline from Sotetsu line to Odakyu line at Ebina station
railline is going through Yokohama city area, suburbs and country side

there are some souvenir shops beside the approach, you can find Oyama unique things as koma-spinning tops, kyarabuki-cooked butterbur,etc.

on clear day, you can see Sagami-bay pacific ocean through cable car front window or glass top
if you are lucky you can see even Izu Oshima island
Oyama-dera Temple
view Oyama-dera temple which is one of the main destinations of Oyama pilgrimage
steep 85 stone steps are impressive
It was founded in AD 755 and the principal statue of the temple is Fudo Myoo, a wisdom king who has a fierce look and holds a sword and a rope to punish those who don't follow Buddha's teachings
you might be able to see some deers in the woods around the temple

take cable car again from Oyama-dera station to Afuri-jinja station
Oyama Afuri-jinja Shrine Shimosha
This is the other main destination of Oyama pilgrimage
Its origin dates back to 97 BC
along the approach, there are typical Shinto shrine objects, tamagaki-stone fences with names of donators, stone steps, water basin, Stone guardian dogs, Torii gate,etc.
if you wish I will show you how to pray at a Shinto shrine
we can get an Omikuji-fortune tellling paper, good luck charm, book of seals, etc. by paying some yen
under the shrine building, there is a fountain which clear water is drawn from Mt. Oyama. it's drinkable and tastes good. we can pour them in our water bottles
also there are large wooden swards which were donated in Edo period
