Kakegawa Castle

Explore Kakegawa Castle and discover its connection to Tokugawa Ieyasu. Rebuilt in 1994 using traditional wooden construction methods. Its historic palace is one of Japan’s rare surviving castle palaces.

Things to do around there:

- Matcha Experience

Ninomaru Tea House. Visitors can enjoy local green tea and Japanese sweets, and a traditional tea ceremony may be available.

- Takenomaru Cafe

This cafe is in a historic residence built in 1903 for the Matsumoto family, who traded in traditional kudzu cloth. It serves local tea, drinks, and sweets.

- Kakegawa Stained Glass Museum

It features around 70 works, including Victorian-era British stained glass and French rose windows. It is described as Japan’s first public stained-glass museum.
