We start our Tour in Lisbon, leaving the city, we will be able to admire the magnificent Aguas Livres Aqueduct, a masterpiece of Portuguese civil engineering from the 18th century, as well as the Monsanto Park, the true green lung of the city.
Then we will cross the imposing 25 April Bridge, and via the motorway we will arrive in Évora in one hour, in the meantime we can see the agricultural fields, the olive groves and the orchards, a portrait of the economical activity that dominates the whole region.
We will now leave the car and start our visit at the Roman Temple of Évora (Temple of Diana)
This is one of the best preserved Roman temples in the whole Iberian Peninsula and was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986. It is the ex-libris of the city, and its calling card.
From the local viewpoint we have a view over the agricultural fields surrounding the town, namely the vineyards planted in rows that are lost in the gaze.
The Sé of Évora, the largest medieval cathedral in Portugal, is a fascinating and imposing monument; all in granite, it is marked by the transition from the Romanesque to the Gothic style.
Two towers from the medieval period can be seen on either side of its facade, the tower on the south side is the bell tower, the one whose bells command the city's time.
We will now visit and get to know the Alentejo Wine Route where we are invited to travel on a journey through the history of wine in the region, to learn about the ancestral tradition of "Talha" wine, the predominant soils and grape varieties used.
Here, while we listen to the various explanations, we will have a small generic tasting of the wines of this magnificent region.
A walk along Rua 5 outubro, where you can appreciate the local handicrafts, especially pottery and cork work.
We have arrived at the central square of the city, now we have time to appreciate the architecture, as well as time for lunch....
Évora is known for its gastronomy and good wines. Migas, gazpacho, lamb stew, Alentejo-style pork, purslane soup and "pezinhos de coentrada" are some of the region's most popular dishes. Among the delicacies we can find gizzards, sausages, pork ear, cracklings and smoked ham. Accompanied by a good Alentejo red wine, these delicacies are the delight of those who taste them. The Alentejo sweets are also very well known, such as sericaia, curd cheese cake, filhóses, almond cake and gila among many others.
According to tradition, the Convento de São Francisco in Évora was the first house of the Franciscan Order in Portugal, having been founded in the XIII century, and is still today one of the most impressive churches in Portugal.
The Convent of São Francisco experienced its golden moments when the court of King Afonso V began to settle in the convent during their stays in Évora.
The church was elevated to the category of Royal Chapel, receiving the title of Golden Convent, such was the wealth with which the Royal Family decorated it.
We will now visit the bones chapel , (ticket Not included ) which is one of the ex-libris of the city of Évora.
Its construction was due to the initiative of Franciscan monks who wanted to build a space that would be used for better reflection about the brevity of human life.
In this chapel, the walls and the vault were covered with thousands of human bones.

Private Full Day Tour in Sintra - Charm and romantism
“Amazing day in Sintra”
We had a great day on our tour of Sintra. Duarte was not our guide which was a surprise but Joao did a really nice job. At his recommendation we toured the inside of the Queluz Palace and the outside of the Pena Palace since the lines at the Pena Palace can be quite long and would have taken up too much time. The only thing we didn't like was Joao tried to sell us more tours when we returned to Lisbon.

(6 reviews)Hi Sue Thank you very much for contacting me, and especially for your review. João Ramos does work with me, and I organised your Sintra tour with him because you were only 2 passengers, and your tour would have been more comfortable in a smaller car, which is the one João normally works with. I asked João why he had suggested other tour options, and what he told me was that when he realised that you would be returning to Lisbon, and accompanied by friends, he tried to let you know that he and I could design and organise a tour for the whole group that would meet your wishes for the visit, which could include: wine tasting, artisanal cheese making, drawing and painting tiles, in short, there is a world of experiences that could be organised by us. I know that he has done this with the best of intentions, as he is truly passionate about our history and culture, and I'm sure that you would be truly amazed at how much you can do, and at the wonderful experiences and memories you can take away with you. I wish you a wonderful holiday on your cruise and if you need any support from us, we are here to help. At your service Duarte Pestana and João Ramos
