The Great Buddha of Todaiji temple is the largest statue of Buddha, Dainichi-nyorai. The Emperor, Shomu, was ardent person to introduce the Buddhism across Japan to make Japan as a peaceful country. Todaiji temple is head quareter temple of Japan those days. The building, housing the statue is said to be the oldest wooden structure in the world. The Buddha with the height of 15meters, is made of copper bronze, about 500 ton collecting from western Japan, Yamaguchi prefecture. It is amasing to know that a precise technology of metal casting was already existed in the 8century.
