I would like to take you to Arashiyama Sagano such as bamboo forest, Nonomiya Shrine, Tenryuji Temple, Nison-in, Gionji and the like. I'm sure you can enjoy the landscape from Arashiyama to Sagano, one of the finest spots in Kyoto. In particular the view form Togetsukyo Bridge crossing over Katsura River is very impressive.
Arashiyama is 382 meters above sea level and is populary known for cherry blossoms in spring and beautifully changing colors of autumn leaves in autumn.
You can enjoy walking through bamboo forests about 500 meters. They give us a sense of coolness, especially on May and June they grow lushly. When you walk through bamboo forest, you find Nonomiya Shrine. The shrine is populary known for a black shrine gate and a fortune turtle stone.
Tenryuji Temple is one of the 17 buildings designated as a World Cultural Heritage site. India ink painting called "Dragon glaring in eight directions" is on the ceiling in the Hatto Hall. No matter where you are, the dragon is staring at you. The sougenchi garden is a borrowed landscape garden as well as the first stroll-style garden in Japan.
If you climb up to Iwata Mountain about 20 minutes, you can go to Arashiyama Monkey Park. About 130 wild Japanese momkeys are playing in natural forms and you can command a panoranic view of Kyoto from observatory on Iwata Mountain.
Sagano is very quite and clam on the north side of Arashiyama. The Nison-in was built in the 9th century. The Branches of maple trees form a beautiful tunnel on the both sides of a gently sloping slope. Gioji Temple creates a quiet air. In spring cherry blossoms a bloom, in summer moss entirely grows in the garden, in autumn you can see beautifully changing colors of autumn leaves and in winter the garden is covered with snow all around.
Local typical sweets are sakura-mochi or rice cake with bean paste wrapped in a salted cherry leaf.
Why don't you visit Arashiyama and Sagano ?

We had an excellent day with HIDEo YOSHIda. From our wishes he planned a tour, took us around town and showed us different sights of Kyoto. He is very knowledgable in many different areas so we learned a lot about Japanese culture and history. We can warmly recommend a day with HIDEo YOSHIda.
Hello Brian. I'm very glad to receive your good review. Today we visited Japanese gardens such as moss garden in Saihoji, Sogenchi garden in Tenryuji and Ninomaru garden in Nijo Castle. They gave us peaceful and fresh atmosphere. I'm going to do my best on guide for many years to come. Thank you. Best HIDEo YOSHIda
He is so friendly and very knowledgeable about local history and japanese mythology. His itinerary was well preplanned. I would not have been able to explore all the places we did on my own. Thanks Hideo san!
