About Tour Guide Tac K.

I was borne and raised in Fukuoka. I'm retired last year, and now slowly enjoying life. Before retireing, I work for IT related services for over 4 decades. My job roles were programmer, System Engineer, IT department Manager and IT project manager, additionally Internal Auditor. But, I feel it's a long time ago. I'm not a sporty person. I prefer reading books(Manga & novels) and listening music. Especially, I like Taiyou Matsumoto's commic & Tatsurou Yamashita's pop music. I also like outdoor activities like camping, jogging and chairing. Especially, enjoyning chairing. (Taking a folding chair and walk to the beach, which is 15 minutes away, and just relax.) I want to communicate with many people through the Japan as it is.

The Best Tour Guide in Japan

Tac was an outstanding guide and our day in Yamaguchi Prefecture was the highlight of our entire Japan trip. What stood out even before we met was how much preparation he put in. After our initial inquiry, he reorganized our itinerary into a more logical route without us even asking. He created a detailed, beautifully designed booklet covering the history of each site, maps of Tsunoshima, the best viewpoints for photos, and restaurant recommendations with pictures and prices. He even drove the route with his wife beforehand, swapped out the original restaurant when it didn't meet his standards, and found specific photo spots we never would have discovered on our own. On the day, his knowledge at each site was impressive but never overwhelming — he knew exactly how much context to share to make everything feel meaningful. His English was excellent and his personality made the whole day genuinely enjoyable. The planning, the scouting, the brochure, the music in the car — every detail was thought through. He clearly cares deeply about giving his guests a great experience, not just completing a tour. If you're looking for a private tour in the Fukuoka or Yamaguchi area, we can't recommend Tac highly enough.

It was truly a wonderful and enjoyable trip. I was able to share one of my favorite routes with you, and at the same time, it helped me discover many new things that I might never have noticed on a private trip by myself. At the Tsunoshima Nature Museum, when Sanjay showed interest in the large number of stuffed birds on display, one of the staff members noticed and kindly explained that the sky above Tsunoshima lies along a major migratory route. Because of this, a wide variety of birds gather in this area. We also learned, through the impressive shell collection, that many of the shells unique to Tsunoshima are white. As they break down, they turn the seabed white, which is why the sea appears cobalt blue even on cloudy days. After hearing this, the three of us took a walk to the beach. As we stood there, looking out at the vast sea and sky stretching before us, with the lighthouse to our left, right in the middle of rich and beautiful nature, and feeling the refreshing breeze while watching the clear waves gently stirring up the white sand, I felt a deep sense of happiness. I was also very happy that both of you kindly complimented my English. Since you are both interested in Japanese culture and occasionally spoke Japanese during our conversation, it made me even happier. Many thoughts came to my mind — what exactly a shrine is, why foxes are associated with it, how the thousands of torii gates came to be, what the differences are between Shakyamuni Buddha, Fudō Myōō, and why Japanese people pray for their family's happiness at shrines while reflecting on their ancestors at temples. I did my best to find the right words to express these ideas. I’m also glad that you enjoyed the music I had prepared, and to be honest, the entire experience was so enjoyable that I almost felt guilty receiving a fee. I sincerely wish you both all the best on your future travels. And if you come back to Japan, I would be more than happy if you could reach out to me again.

Fantastic Guide!

We had an incredible experience with Tac as our guide in Kyushu. I wanted to do a really custom itinerary that I couldn’t find online, and after reaching out to several guides who said it wasn’t possible to do in a day, Tac was the only one who made it happen. Without me even asking, he created multiple route options based on my ideas, which made the itinerary even better. He went out of his way to meet us outside his usual area, was on time, thoughtful, and had everything printed and organized. He kept us perfectly on schedule so we could make it to our onsen in time for dinner, while still fitting everything in. What really stood out was how much he cared—he even secured hard-to-get boat tickets for us ahead of time, which would’ve been difficult for me to do from abroad. Thanks to his effort, we had one of the best days of our trip. I’d highly recommend Tac to anyone visiting Fukuoka or the Kyushu region.

Thank you so much for your review. I also had a truly enjoyable day. What made me happiest was the moment when, on our way from Takachiho to Aso, I started worrying that the clouds might ruin the beautiful panoramic view at Daikanbo — but as we got closer, the sky cleared up, and you were able to enjoy the beautiful 360-degree panorama under bright sunshine. As you mentioned, it was a long-distance drive on the first day of a three-day weekend, and I was a little nervous because any heavy traffic could have easily thrown off our schedule. But in the end, I was happy to see both of you enjoying Takachiho, including the boat ride, and we arrived at Kurokawa Onsen with time to spare — I felt such a sense of relief at that moment. Throughout the tour, I was truly touched by how calm, thoughtful, and kind both of you were, and I returned home feeling truly fulfilled and grateful for the day we spent together. It was a pleasure spending the day with you, and I truly appreciate the wonderful time we shared.
