Step back in time with a 200+ year-old dining experience at Ogakiku, established in 1807. This historic restaurant is famous for its expertly grilled eel, glazed with a secret heirloom sauce passed down through generations.

Established in 1905, this soba restaurant specializes in matcha-infused noodles, blending Kawagoe’s tea culture with traditional Japanese cuisine.

Kurazukuri Street (Warehouse District)

Explore a street lined with clay-walled warehouses from the Edo period, built to withstand fire after a devastating blaze in the 1800s.


The dark tiles, thick walls, and solid wooden doors give the area a bold, historic presence.


As you walk through, the modern world fades—replaced by preserved facades, quiet alleyways, and the atmosphere of old Japan.

Walk to Toki no Kane

Take a photo of the famous Tori no Kane or Clock Bell Tower.

Stroll the food shops nearby and try some sweet potato chips, steamed manju cakes filled with sweet potato and red bean or sweet potato ice cream.


Kawagoe is called sweet potato kingdom during the Edo period known for its high quality.

Explore Kashiya Yokocho (Candy Alley)

This place is known for traditional japanese sweets, small toys and accessories.
