(Atami) Japanese Culinary Shop Walking Tour
Atami, seaside onsen town only 45 min from Tokyo by bullet train, has a long history as a retreat destination and still is a home for many high-end traditional ryokans, which had helped many small food shops to survive to date.
This walking tour is to visit three shops offering indispensable ingredients to Japanese cuisine, including green tea, wasabi zuke (pickles), katsuobushi (dried skipjack tuna) and tofu to learn about history, products (even samples!) directly from the shop owners.

Sakurabashi & Visit to the First Shop
Our guide welcomes you to Atami, with brief history of Atami, followed by general explanation of Japanese cuisine, interesting facts about the products of the shops we will visit during the tour.
Upon arrival to the first shop (5 min. to 10 min. walk), the shop owner (or staff) explains about their history, products, sample tasting and so on. We will stay in the shop for about 1 hour before moving to the second shop.
Three shops from four types of shops; 1) green tea 2) wasabi zuke(pickle) 3) katsuobushi 4) tofu, will be selected on a rotational basis and the order of the shop visit will be vary depending of schedule of each shop owners.
Visit to the Second Shop
We will walk to the second shop (5 to 10 min). The shop owner (or staff) of the second shop explains about their history, products and so on. We will stay in the shop for about 40-45 min. before moving to the third shop.
Visit to the Third shop
We will walk to the third shop (5 to 10 min). The shop owner (or staff) of the third shop explains about their history, products and so on. We will stay in the shop for about 40-45 min, then the tour will be dismissed at the third shop location.

Our guide is more than happy to show you the way back to the starting point, restaurant for lunch, and/or any sight-seeing places in Atami.

Your purchase at the shops (totally at your discretion). Please bring cash as some shops don't accept credit cards.
Tour Important Information
*Please wear comfortable shoes, and be ready to walk about 1 km and stay standing.
*Three shops will be selected from four types of shops; 1) green tea 2) wasabi zuke (pickle) 3) katsuobushi (dried skipjack tuna used for Japanese dashi stock) and 4) tofu, on a rotational basis and the order of the shop visit will be vary depending of schedule of each shop owner.
*If you have any preferred type of shops to visit (among four types), please make a request.
*Please be aware that explanations by shop owner (or staff) may be interrupted due to their customers visit.
*If you have a preference for a tour on a different day/time, please make a request at least by four weeks in advance of the tour date. We may be able to accommodate your request.
*While sample tasting will be offered, please don't take risk if you feel uncomfortable or have food allergies. We cannot be responsible for the consequences of your action.
*Most memorable part of any trip is interactions with local people. So enjoy the conversation, ask questions, share your stories, and most importantly, stay open minded.

슨푸성 공원 호비 광장
슨푸성 공원: 이 곳은 시즈오카 시의 중심부에 있으며 3개의 연못과 아름다운 돌담으로 둘러싸인 공원입니다. 1585년 도쿠가와 이에야스가 축성하고 만년을 태상왕 전하로서 보낸 슨푸성의 흔적은 에도 시대의 역사를 보여 줍니다. 경내의 복원된 동문과 망루는 순목조 8각 지붕의 성곽 건축으로 당시의 모습을 충실히 재현해 줍니다. 원내는 이에야스공의 동상과 공이 손수 심은 밀감나무, 4개의 일본식 정원, 다실을 갖춘 모미지 공원이 있으며 수백그루의 벚꽃과 약 1만그루의 진달래 꽃이 만발하는 봄이 되면 아름다운 꽃관광을 위해 수많은 인파로 넘치기도 합니다. 호비 광장 모형의 세계 수도 시즈오카에 새로운 호비의 정보 발신 기지가 탄생했습니다. 호비 뮤지엄의 인기에 힘입어 2011.6월에 시즈오카의 아트 겔러리 터를 정비해서 개관했는데요. 시즈오카 호비 광장에는 모형 메이커 각사의 최신 모형과 시즈오카의 전통 공예품의 상설 전시가 재밌는 이벤트와 함께 펼쳐집니다.

후지산 혼구 센겐 타이샤
후지산에 대한 이야기는 이 신사를 빼놓고는 이야기 할 수 없을 정도로 후지 신앙의 중심지이며 후지산을 경배하고 관장하는 신사로 후지산 8부 능선에서 정상까지를 경내로 하는 후지산 신앙의 근원지입니다. 또 신사는 후지산 지하수 샘물이 흘러 나오는 곳에 둘러싸여 있으며 지하수 샘물이 모여서 연못을 만들고 그 연못 안에 많은 물고기와 오리가 떠 있는 모습은 가히 아름다운 후지산의 한 폭의 그림을 보는 것 같습니다. 전국1,300여개의 센겐 신사의 총 본산이며 경내의 아름다운 색채와 모습의 본전, 배전, 벚꽃문은 이에야스의 건립 기증물입니다. 그 중 본전과 배전은 중요 문화재로 지정되어 있습니다. 다카사고 청주제조회사 오미야 쉼터의 만남의 광장 신사의 서쪽에는 1820년부터 후지산 지하수 샘물로 맛있게 술을 빚어온 다카사고 청주 제조 회사가 있습니다. 연하고 단 맛의 후지산 지하수의 맛을 만끽할 수 있습니다. 또 신사의 앞에는 아담한 후지노미야 상가가 있고 그 곳에는 조용한 쉼터의 만남의 광장이 있는데 누구나 부담없이 휴식을 취할 수 있는 자유 공간입니다. 깨끗한 샘물에 의해 가꾸어져 온 후지노미야의 식문화를 계절의 바람과 함께 맛보세요.
