Ieyasu no Yu, footbath located in front of Atami Station
- Ieyasu no Yu This literally mean "Hot Spring of Ieyasu", named after Tokugawa, Ieyasu, the first shogun of Edo period in 17th century, who loved Atami. If you are interested, please come early and soak your feet in! Our guide welcomes you to Atami, explains brief history of Atami, and starts visiting sightseeing highlights of Atami.
Traditional & retro looking shopping arcade close to Atami Station. During the day, this arcade is very crowed, and you can feel the vibrant ambience. There are many souvenir shops, sweets shops, restaurants, and you can come back later if you find any shops interesting.
This is one of ”seven hot springs of Atami” and you can make boiled egg using steam of hot springs, by buying eggs at nearby liquor shop.
In the interest of time, egg-boiling experience can be enjoyed later after the tour is dismissed.
This is the largest Geyser in Atami, and I would say this is where all history of Atami started. Let me explain during the tour.
Believe it or not, this geyser was once named as the top 3 geysers in the world, along with old faithful geyser in yellow stone national park in the USA and Great Geyser of Iceland.
Along with Oyu Geyser, this is another important landmark in the history of Atami Onsen (hot springs), which I can explain during the tour.
This is the main shopping street of Atami, where it is fun to stroll around, looking at the blends of "old" classic shops and "new" fashionable shops.
Now, let's go walk along the ocean side. You will enjoy looking at many Yachts and you can then see why Atami was once called "Monaco of the Orient".
Let's walk along the beach and feel the ocean breeze.
The statue was made based on the scene from the famous novel "The Golden Demon", of that two main characters of Omiya and Kanichi, broke up at Atami Beach.
Then, we will finish the tour at the onsen (hot spring) facility. Our guide will help with check-in before the tour is dismissed.
