Spend the day in Hakone without worrying about a hotel. I'll drive you up from Yokohama and we'll walk through the sculpture gardens at the Open-Air Museum, take the ropeway over Owakudani's volcanic valley (the black eggs are worth trying), and finish with a boat ride across Lake Ashi, where you can sometimes catch Mt. Fuji in the distance. We're back in Yokohama the same evening.

Itinerary

07:00 AM

Meeting Point

Yokohama station west exit

- West exit from yokohama JR CIAL in front of JOINUS

08:30 AM

Hakone Open-Air Museum

Imagine a sculpture garden with the mountains as its backdrop, over a hundred works scattered across open lawns and quiet forest paths. There's a whole pavilion dedicated to Picasso, and just when your legs need a break, you'll find a hot spring foot bath waiting.

01:00 PM

Owakudani

Ride the ropeway up and the landscape turns almost lunar: steam hisses out of the rocks, sulfur hangs in the air, and you're standing in the middle of an active volcanic valley. This is where the kuro-tamago come from, eggs boiled in the hot springs until their shells go completely black. Local legend says one egg adds seven years to your life. Most people eat two.

03:30 PM

Lake Ashi

After the volcanic drama of Owakudani, Lake Ashi feels like the exhale. We'll cruise across calm water at the foot of the mountains, and on a clear day, Mt. Fuji rises right across the lake, often the moment people reach for their camera without even thinking about it.

Ending Point

About Tour Guide Gerardo T.

Hi, I'm Gerardo — originally from Monterrey, Mexico, and living in Japan for the past 4 years, based in Kawasaki.

Fluent in Spanish, English, and Japanese, I bring a unique perspective as someone who didn't just visit Japan, but built a real life here —settled into the rhythm of everyday life in the Tokyo and Kanagawa area. That means I don't just know the tourist spots; I know how this region actually works, and I love sharing that with visitors.

Whether you're interested in classic sightseeing, food, local culture, or the kind of places most guidebooks don't mention, I'll tailor the day around what genuinely interests you.

What I offer:

Fully customized private tours across Tokyo and Kanagawa

Guiding by car is possible — I hold a Japanese driver's license, so getting around is easy and flexible

A local's insight, not just a guidebook script

A relaxed, friendly experience at your own pace

I look forward to showing you around and making your time in Tokyo and Kanagawa unforgettable. Let's explore together!
