Though the rainy season has not begun yet in Kochi, it rains a lot every day. In spite of this humid weather, in Makino Botanical Garden various kinds of flowers are blooming beautifully and charmingly. In this blog, I’ll introduce only a few flowers. Please enjoy looking at them.
Arimaumanosuzukusa
This plant is poisonous, so most insects don’t like this. But, young worms of Jyakouageha, a kind of butterfly, eat these poisonous leaves and store the poison in their bodies. As a result, birds don’t intend to eat the young worms. So, the young worms are natural enemies to this plant. I’m sure these plants are surprised by that fact.
Sumomo, A Kind Of Plum
Makino Botanical Garden is located in Mt.Godaisan. And in this mountain, farmers have produced this plum. The taste is a little sour yet fresh.
Himeajisai
Dr.Makino found this hydrangea and named it “Himeajisai”. But, so far, wild “Himeajisai” has not been found. Why don’t you find wild “Himeajisai”?
Himekirinso
Dr.Makino found this flower in Kochi. This is an endangered plant species.
Ibukijyakouso
It looks like grass, but it is a tiny tree. Their small flowers are very cute. In this photo, I am touching the plant. It smells the same as thyme.
Conclusion
