Tea Tour for tea lovers! - to know everything about tea!

Other spots you might be interested are Kyu-Hyuga-Bettei (designed by Bruno Taut), Atami Castle, Akao Herb & Rose Garden, Izusan Shrine, Hashiriyu Hot Spring Tunnel, orange picking, Sosakunoie (Ikeda Masuo's Residence), etc. 

At Geigi Kemban (dance theater of geisha)  dance performance is held on Sat. and Sun. from 11 am.  On weekdays, they have dance and music lessons, which we are allowed to observe (subject to availability).


Atami Tour Customized for You!

・The highlight of this tour is Kakegawa Castle, which was originally built about 500 years ago and flourished in the Edo Period. Although the castle tower was destoryed in the earthquake of 1854, it was rebuilt in 1994, using the original blueprints from 1644. The guide explains the history of the castle.
・The present structure of the Ninomaru Palace was built in the late Edo Period. Taking off our shoes, we can tour the inside, and the guide explains how each room was used.
・You can also taste the local Kakegawa green tea served in the authentic, traditional-style tea house.

Kakegawa Historical Walking Tour

・You can experience a paraglider flight off a 300-meter-high cliff, with Mt. Fuji visible in the background when the weather is good. This is not a solo flight but a tandem flight with the instructor sitting right behind you. Before flight, the guide translate for you all the instructions so that you can grasp necessary information and precautions.
・Clad in only your birthday suit, you can enjoy soaking in a Japanese-style communal bathtub. Prior to bathing, the guide provides you with the necessary information so that you know just what to do.
・The Asagiri Food Park contains several facilities on the premises, where you can experience various hands-on activities, including butter-making, cookie-making, and tea-blending, among others. There is also a buffet-style restaurant using a lot of local ingredients, and a sake brewery offering a brief factory tour and sake tasting.
・The Jimba Waterfalls is a small but beautiful waterfalls hidden in a remote, rural area. Since this is not a nationally famous spot but rather a pristine, hidden-gem type one, it is not necessarily "kind" to visitors, meaning that, for instance, there is not necessarily a path where you would expect one. So, sometimes you may need to step over some stones to cross a small stream. And if you slip, your shoes might get wet. So, please be forewarned.
・As an option, you can experience animal-related activities, like riding a horse, walking a goat, feeding a rabbit, and milking a cow.
・You can also choose to enjoy rainbow trout fishing in one of the fishing ponds. This region is known as the largest trout farming area in Japan, mainly thanks to the clear spring water provided by Mt. Fuji. 



Adventure Tour at the Foot of Mt. Fuji

Shizuoka is the No. 1 Tea producer in Japan. Across the prefecture, there are many tea production areas. Among them, Makinohara plateau is the largest tea plantation in Japan. Surprisingly, the land was cultivated by samurai about 150 years ago. 
We’ll visit the Tea Museum there. If you are a tea lover, this is the perfect facility to learn everything about tea including a variety of tea cultures. It has a Japanese tea house and garden. You can experience an authentic tea ceremony there.
After that, we'll visit Chagusaba Terrace to enjoy the tea field view. Around that area, their eco-friendly tea production method has gained attention and has been designated as GIAHS(Globaly Important Agricultural Heritage System) .  Depending on your request in advance, we can drop by a tea factory and the like on the way.
Last visit is Kakegawa Castle, a wooden castle reconstructed by the method in those day. You may feel the atmosphere dating back to Samurai period.
I think it will be a special experience for you to spend a day in the spacious tea fields developed by samurai!
