About Tour Guide Fumie U.
I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains.
Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I am excited to show you around beautiful places that I love.
I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort.
After becoming a guide, I met with guests from various backgrounds, and I feel grateful once again, for my experience to be exposed to different cultures in my youth.
Let’s have a good time together!

We had an excellent tour and great time with Fumie! The tour was well organized and timed out. We went from place to place without feeling rushed or having to stand around in lines. She went above and beyond for us several times throughout the day. She is clearly highly experienced, knowledgeable, and also she is fun to hang out with!

“Fumie san is phenomenal! ”
We had the most incredible experience in Shizuoka thanks to our guide, Fumie. From the very beginning, she was proactive and thorough—making phone calls on our behalf, scheduling appointments, and even reaching out to gather information as we came to learn everything we could about tea. She helped us make appts to tour farms that are normally difficult to access. She curated a thoughtful and well-balanced itinerary for us: from sushi and tea blending in central Shizuoka, to exploring Gyokuro culture in Fujieda and meeting a tea master at Gyokuro Terrace, to arranging visits with several other farmers. She even provided us with excellent alternatives when certain farms weren’t available, ensuring that every day was meaningful and productive. What impressed us most was how responsive and easy she was to work with throughout the process. Her excellent English made communication effortless, and her warm, professional manner made the entire journey enjoyable and stress-free. My husband and I truly felt taken care of every step of the way. If you are visiting Shizuoka and want someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and deeply committed to making your time unforgettable, we cannot recommend Fumie highly enough. She made this trip one of the highlights of our time in Japan.
