Dazaifu Temmangu Shrine
Dazaifu Tenmangu is a significant Shinto shrine in Fukuoka Prefecture, Japan, dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, a scholar and politician from the Heian Period, revered as the god of learning and culture. Established in 905 AD, the shrine was built to appease Michizane's spirit after his unjust exile and subsequent deification. Kushida Shrine is a prominent Shinto shrine located in Fukuoka City, Japan. Founded in 757, it is one of the oldest shrines in the region and is dedicated to the deities Amaterasu and Susanoo. The shrine is best known for hosting the annual Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event, featuring elaborate floats and vibrant parades. Visitors are drawn to its historical significance, traditional architecture, and the ancient gingko tree said to be over 1,000 years old. Kushida Shrine remains a vital cultural and spiritual center in Fukuoka.
