Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine
Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine is dedicated to Sugawara no Michizane, the deity of learning and scholarship. It's a popular destination for students praying for academic success.
After three years of renovation, the main shrine of Dazaifu Tenmangu is now fully restored and open for worship.
Kyusyu National Museum
Kyushu National Museum was designed by Kikutake Kiyonori, one of the 100 most influential architects of the 20th century. The breathtaking structure itself is a must-see.

Fukuoka Tower
Standing 234 meters tall, Fukuoka Tower is the third tallest tower in Japan. From the observation deck, you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of Fukuoka city and Hakata Bay.
Hakata Machiya Folk Museum
Located just steps from Kushida Shrine, the Hakata Machiya Folk Museum offers a fascinating glimpse into the history and culture of Hakata. You can also enjoy traditional craft displays and live demonstrations.
Kushida Shrine
Kushida Shrine is one of Fukuoka's most beloved historic shrines. You can see the huge decorative float from the famous Hakata Gion Yamakasa festival, exhibited here year-round.
Tochoji Temple
Founded in 806 by Kukai (Kobo-Daishi), Tochoji Temple is the first esoteric Buddhist temple in Japan. You can see the Fukuoka Daibutsu, one of the largest seated wooden Buddha statues in Japan. The striking five-story vermilion pagoda stands beautifully.

I studied in the U.S. for 1 year and 8 months, and later worked as a manager at a major Japanese company, where I collaborated with engineers from various countries. “An excellent way to see Fukuoka's highlights”
Masazumi (Masa) arrived on time at Hakata Wharf. His nature was gentle and friendly and we both enjoyed our tour. We visited a shrine, a history museum, a temple and the large park with its Japanese garden. We finished the tour with a meal at a typical Japanese restaurant.
