Yachimun, Okinawan traditional pottery, is well-known for its coexistence of colorful design and naive texture. Many top chefs in Japan use Yachimun dishes because they boost the allure of the cuisine without over-decoration and increase customers' appetites. The best way to find your favorite Yachimun is to visit as many studios with a guide-interpreter as possible and talk to the artists or shop staff at Yachimun no sato, or Yachimun pottery village, at Yomitan!

Meeting and a brief explanation.
Walk around the village and visit Yachimun studios, galleries, and shops. Also, see a giant climbing kiln. There are 19 studios in total in the village. It is up to you whether to visit all of them or concentrate on a smaller number of studios and spend a longer time.

In addition to day trips, I can also be your guide for several days in Okinawa and other parts of Japan. If you are interested, please let me know via message.
It is hard for non-Japanese speakers to ask questions when shopping. Also, there is no explanatory sign about the history and features of Yachimun over there (even in Japanese.) With a knowledgeable guide-interpreter, the problems are solved!
- Many shops do not accept credit card. It would be better to have Japanese yen as cash.
- There are many hills in Yachimun Pottery Village. Please wear conformable shoes to walk.
Organisation was perfect and the tour amazing. Thank you very much Harry and all the best for you and your family!
Thank you for your comment! It was an amazing experience for me too. I hope we can see each other someday again. Please give my best to everyone!
My husband and I had 3 days of tours with Harry during the world festival in Naha. Harry was very helpful in coordinating our tours and contacting our family in Okinawa. Harry was very knowledgeable about the history and culture of Okinawa and was a great guide. He also did a great job of interpreting for us as most people in Okinawa do not speak English.
Dear Tiffany-san, Thank you very much for your participation in the tour! I am glad that you enjoy visiting sightseeing spots, shopping at modern and local markets, and drinking at izakaya! If you need interpretation when communicating with your family in Okinawa, please let me know! Thank you again! Harry
