Meeting Point
Shin-Imamiya station
- We’ll meet in front of Jr Shin Imamiya station, but I'm happy to adjust the time and place to whatever works best for you!
ShinSekai
4:00 PM – 4:40 PM | Tobita Shinchi (飛田新地)
Begin your tour in Tobita Shinchi, one of Osaka’s most secretive and historically unique districts.
Once Japan’s largest red-light area, today it remains a living museum of Taisho-era architecture and narrow alleys filled with nostalgic charm.
While photos are discouraged, walking respectfully through these streets offers a fascinating look into Osaka’s backstreet culture and the local working-class history that still survives.
A glimpse of the “real Osaka” that few tourists ever see.
4:40 PM – 5:20 PM | Shinsekai (新世界)
Walk (about 10 minutes) to Shinsekai, the “New World” built in 1912 and modeled after Paris and New York.
It’s a colorful, retro district where past and present collide — with bright signboards, old-fashioned eateries, and the landmark Tsutenkaku Tower standing proudly in the center.
Stop by a family-run handmade knife shop to see master craftsmen producing beautiful Japanese kitchen knives. It’s a great spot to admire authentic Osaka craftsmanship.
5:20 PM – 6:00 PM | Jan Jan Alley (ジャンジャン横丁) & Kushikatsu Dinner
Next, stroll through Jan Jan Alley, a narrow street packed with tiny bars, game arcades, and nostalgic Showa-style eateries.
This is the heart of local Osaka life — lively, cheerful, and full of flavor.
Enjoy a plate of Kushikatsu, Osaka’s signature deep-fried skewers. Try classic flavors like beef, shrimp, or quail egg — but remember: No double dipping in the sauce!
Dotombori
6:20 PM – 7:10 PM | Dotonbori (道頓堀)
Arrive at Dotonbori, where Osaka truly comes alive after sunset.
The neon reflections on the canal, the huge 3D restaurant signs, and the smell of street food create an unforgettable atmosphere.
Take a photo at Ebisubashi Bridge with the Glico Running Man Sign, Osaka’s most iconic landmark.
You can also enjoy street snacks like takoyaki or grilled crab along the canal.
7:10 PM – 7:40 PM | Hozenji Temple & Hozenji Yokocho (法善寺・法善寺横丁)
Step away from the neon lights into a peaceful side alley and discover Hozenji Temple, a small moss-covered temple where locals pour water over the statue of Fudo Myo-o for good luck.
Then stroll through Hozenji Yokocho, a beautifully preserved stone-paved lane lined with traditional restaurants and lanterns — it feels like a hidden Kyoto in the middle of Osaka.
7:40 PM – 8:00 PM | American Mura (アメリカ村)
End your evening at American Village, a 10-minute walk from Dotonbori.
This area represents the youthful and creative side of Osaka, with vintage shops, graffiti walls, and trendy cafés.
It’s the perfect spot to relax, enjoy the street music, and see the contrast between old Osaka and modern pop culture.

The tour ends in Dotonbori, we can extend the tour to explore Osaka’s nightlife, including great izakayas and clubs. Just let us know if you’d like to keep the night going!

A Local Friend in Kansai — Meet Atif
Hey there! I’m Atif, a travel lover who’s been calling Osaka home for the past few years. What started as a curious adventure quickly turned into a deep love for this region — the food, the people, and all the little hidden corners that make Kansai so special.
Now, I spend my days sharing those discoveries with travelers who want to see the real Japan — not just the postcard version.
What I Offer
Fun & Flexible Tours: No boring scripts here! I plan each tour around you — whether you love taking photos, tasting street food, exploring quiet temples, or getting lost in neon-lit backstreets.
Local Secrets: After years of wandering Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe, I’ve found the best hidden gems — from tiny noodle shops to peaceful gardens and back-alley shrines.
Laughs & Memories: My tours aren’t just about facts — they’re about fun. Expect stories, local legends, and maybe even a karaoke challenge (if you’re brave enough)!
Why Travel with Me
Because travel should feel like exploring with a local friend, not following a flag in a crowd. I love good food, spontaneous detours, and showing people the Kansai that most tourists miss. Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, I’ll make sure you experience something new — and unforgettable.
Let’s Start the Adventure!
Ready to explore Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, or Kobe?
Let’s laugh, learn, eat, and wander together — Kansai style!

“Explore with a knowledgeable friend!”
Our day trip to Kyoto with Atif was fantastic! Traveling with a 10-year-old can be tricky, but Atif designed a truly bespoke tour perfectly suited to our family's needs. He kept my son completely engaged, finding creative ways to explain the history that captivated him. Atif curated an experience that matched our exact requirements, managing our time flawlessly. It felt less like exploring with a guide and more like exploring with a knowledgeable friend. We highly recommend him!
