Traveling from Tokyo to Kyoto on Shinkansen trains? Why don't you make a stop at Shizuoka to enjoy view of Mt. Fuji, history of the greatest SHOGUN, and shopping in a "good-sized" comfortable city?
It is far less crowded than big cities like Tokyo or Osaka, and still goood products are available for shopping. Shizuoka is known for production of green tea, and matcha is available at many shops (often out of stock in Tokyo!).

Meeting Point
Shizuoka station
- Please take a Shinkansen "Hikari" train from Tokyo, leaving at around 9 am.
Take a Ropeway from Nihondaira to Kunozan Toshogu Shrine
Let's take a cable car to a gorgeous shrine, the national treasure, dedicated to the greatest shogun in Japan. Enjoy view of Mt. Fuji, if weather permits, from an observation deck nearby.
Come back to central Shizuoka
Let's enjoy lunch, shopping and/or Sumpu Castle Park! Shizuoka is a compact city that offers high-quality merchandise for decent ordinary people at reasonable prices. Food is delicious here, too. Shizuoka is one of the largest producers of green tea, so it is the best place to buy tea.

Guide fee, guide's transportation to the meeting spot, and necessary arrangements before your tour
Transportation, admission fees, and lunch during the tour of your and your guide.
Approx. 12000 to 15000 yen in total if you use taxis at each spot, or 7000 to 11000 yen per hour if you charter a taxi depending on the car size. For example, if you charter a van for 9 people (8 guests + a guide) for 7 hours, it is approximately 70000 yen.
Kunozan Toshogu Shrine involves a lot of walking on high steps, so if you are not comfortable doing it, we can replace it with something else.
This tour uses taxis or chartered cars. Taxi fare (using them on spots may need waiting time) may total 12000 to 15000 yen in total for an ordinary passenger car. Chartering a small car requires about 7000 yen/hour, or a van for 8 people, about 11000 yen/hour.
I am Fumie Ueda, a National Government Licensed Guide Interpreter in Atami, Shizuoka, only 50 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen trains.
Atami is conveniently located at the foot of the Hakone mountains, and the base of the Izu Peninsula. It is also close to Mt. Fuji and the Shimizu Port in Shizuoka. I am excited to show you around beautiful places that I love.
I grew up in Yokohama, spent 1 year as a high school exchange student in Allentown, PA in the US, went to college and lived/worked in Tokyo for about 10 years before coming to this beautiful onsen resort.
After becoming a guide, I met with guests from various backgrounds, and I feel grateful once again, for my experience to be exposed to different cultures in my youth.
Let’s have a good time together!

It really was a beautiful day! In Japan, there is a saying, "if there are ten people, they are in ten different colors," meaning all people have different tastes and characteristics. I hope I was able to entertain your group to suite your tastes. It wasvery nice meeting you!

“Best Tour Guide Ever!”
I had the pleasure of booking a tour with Fumie during our visit to Ito and Atami in Japan, and I can't recommend her highly enough. From the start, Fumie took the time to ask all the right questions to tailor the tour to our specific needs and interests. Her communication was prompt and clear, making it easy to finalize all the details of our itinerary. Fumie was incredibly organized and well-prepared, providing us with useful flyers and brochures about the places we would visit. Her extensive knowledge of the area added so much depth to the experience, and she was thorough in sharing interesting facts and history with us. Her English skills were excellent, ensuring we never had any language barriers. What impressed me the most was how she seamlessly adapted when our plans changed. Despite the shift, Fumie handled it effortlessly, ensuring the tour continued smoothly and without any disruption—almost as if the change was part of the original plan. In addition to the tour, Fumie also provided professional interpreter services during our business meetings with other companies, and her support in that area was invaluable. If you're looking for a knowledgeable, flexible, and highly professional guide and interpreter, I wholeheartedly recommend Fumie. She made our experience unforgettable, and I will certainly book her again for future tours and interpretation services.
