Takaoka Mikurumayama museum, Yamacho district
Mikurumayama means local festival floats. The museum exhibits the floats which are used fine artisanal skills of Takaoka’s craftsmanship. The largest festival in Takaoka is held on the 1st May every year. Guest can learn how to hold the festival.
Yamachosuji street
Yamacho is the general term which consists of 10 towns in the district. Yama means floats. Those town take care of those 7 floats. Yamachosuji is one main street around there. Its towns are originally developed as a merchant town and there are lots of traditional houses on the street.

Kanayamachi old town is known as the birthplace of Takaoka copperware. There is a bridge named Homeibashi bridge which has statues of phenix. The phenix is the symbol of the town.
Otera kohachiro shop, Coffee or Tea break
Otera shop was established in 1860s. Otera Kohachiro is the founder's name of this shop. Now 6th generation runs the shop. There are three consecutive traditional houses there. They have a shop, a gallery, an atelier, and one cafe. We visit the cafe to have a drink.
