The 65th Himeji Castle Festival
The 65th Himeji Castle Festival was held at Otemae Park, located about 10-minute walk from JR Himeji station on August 3rd. The first festival began in 1948 to consider a miraculously remained Himeji Castle during World War Ⅱ as a symbol of postwar reconstruction.
HIMEJI YOSAKOI FESTIVAL
Yosakoi festival originated in Kochi prefecture In Shikoku region in 1954. The festival spreads throughout Japan and now it has been held in about 200 sites. Of course Himeji city is one of them. Dances with elegant and vibrant energy are very popular among Japanese.
NEWLY RECOVERED CASTLE
Himeji castle was designated as the first World Cultural Heritage site in 1993. Because of its striking beauty and elegant, it is popularly known as "White Egret castle."
Himeji Castle had been repaired since 2009 but the castle will be open to the public on March 27th 2015 (next year). Facility for the restoration work was almost dismantled. You can't wait for the opening of the castle.
