The divine messenger of three shrines
is "Yatagarasu" or "three-legged crow." It's the symbol of Japan national football team.
On May 26 2018 I guided a couple from USA Kumano Sanzan; Nachi Taisha, Kumano Hongu Taisha and Kumano Hayatama Taisha.
Nachi Taisha and Waterfall
In the early morning we took JR train to Kiikatsuura station. We use a taxi to visit Nachi Taisha (about 500 meters above sea level), Seigantoji Temple and Nachi waterfall with a height of 133 meters, the highest among one-step waterfalls.
Nachi Hongu Taisha
In front of the shrine there is a post with a statue of crow and a flag. When we walk between paddy fields, we see the greatest Torii gate in Japan.
Nachi Hayatama Taisha
Kamikura Shrine is the original shrine of Kumano Hayatama Taisha.
When you walk upstairs, you'll reach Kamikura shrine about 20 minutes.
This large tree is a Podocarpus nagi, which is 1,000 years old. It is the sacred tree with a circumference of about 6 meters.
