“A well-managed day in Naoshima ”

We are very grateful to Mayumi-san for her service during our day at Naoshima. Mayumi-san picked us up from our hotel, pre-purchased the necessary entry tickets, guided us to and around Naoshima, selected places to have morning tea and lunch, and kept us informed about the history of the island and the art installations. Maybe we could have done it ourselves, but the museums have timed entry, so you would need to be well versed on the operating schedules of the island buses to squeeze as much into a single day. She was wonderful, good English, knowledgeable, well-organised, easy pace.

Dear Dean-san, Thank you very much for your kind and thoughtful post. I imagine you must now be feeling relaxed and at ease, back in the comfort of your familiar home. How was your third trip to Japan? You and your wife have such a deep understanding of and affection for Japanese culture and traditions, and I was truly impressed by that. Although the weather wasn’t perfect, you managed to enjoy even that with your sense of humor and wit. The tour with you both was fulfilling and truly enjoyable. Transportation to the remote islands can be fragile, and it often requires flexibility. When time is limited, careful planning becomes essential. This time, we visited only one island, but if you ever return to the Seto Inland Sea, I would be delighted to guide you to other islands as well. It was such a pleasure to guide guests who have visited so many museums and experienced art around the world, and yet still deeply appreciated the Chichu Art Museum and Teshima Art Museum—and what they mean to the local community. Please come back for more art experiences on the islands of the Seto Inland Sea!

“Very Intelligent and Beautiful Guide!”

I was fortunate to have Mika as my guide. I contacted Mika about 1 year ago before my actual visit of Kotohira, Kagawa on May 7, 2025. She was so kind and patient helping me with the itinerary, diligent in researching the sites I wanted to visit and suggesting sites based on my interests. I finally met her, and I had the most wonderful experience, it was one of the best days I had in Japan. I visited touristic, non touristic sites and museums thanks to Mika. She speaks perfect English and lived in the US when she was young. Mika is educated, cultured, very nice and pleasant. I would hire her again if and when I visit Kotohira again in the future. Widdy

I'm so delighted that the itinerary we planned together worked out perfectly. The Iya Valley felt much closer to Kotohira Town, and the beautiful nature and hidden community were truly astonishing—especially with the help of a local driver who made the tour feel even more personal.
