Shirakawa-go is a mountain settlement that is famous for uniquely designed Gassyo-style buildings and registered as one of the World Cultural Heritage sites. In Ogi-machi, over sixty Gassyo-style buildings will welcome visitors. “Knowledgeable and friendly guide for Shirakawa-go”
Tetsuji organized a day trip to Shirakawa-go for my multigenerational family group, including arranging for a driver to pick us up from our hotel in Takayama. He is very friendly and speaks English well. He was very knowledgeable about the history and cultural practices of the traditional village, and we enjoyed spending the day with him and learning more about Japanese life from his perspective.

“Great day in Shirakawago”
We had a wonderful day with Bonnie as our tour guide in Shirakawago. Bonnie arranged bus tickets for the short drive from Takayama to Shirakawago , and then from Shirakawago we went on to Kanazawa. Bonnie is absolutely delightful, so friendly and kind. We learned so much from her and highly recommend her as a tour guide. Shirakawago is in incredible place. Bonnie also helped me when I left behind an item at our ryokan in Takayama. She took extra time to contact the hotel to explain what happened and it all worked out fine. It was a great day.
