Tetsuji Y.
Hello everyone. I am Tetsuji. I worked as a public servant in the local government for 35 years. I belonged to the department of Redevelopment, Town-Landscaping, Preserving historical areas and Architectural Guidance. (I have a national 1st-class architect license.) I devoted myself to revitalizing the city by making plans and improving infrastructure for citizens. Gifu is located in central Japan near Nagoya. As just being the crossroads of the West and the East, there are many unique attractions that are hard to discover in hectic big cities like Tokyo or Kyoto. I had a hand in restoring and preserving some of them throughout my career and want to introduce them to tourists from abroad. That’s why I became a guide-interpreter in Gifu. I also enjoyed traveling around the world. My favorite part of each trip was walking around the city and talking with local residents. Traveling has taught me lots of things during my lifetime. Now, I would like to help others have similar experience in Japan. Shall we enjoy fantastic journey in Gifu?

Hello everyone! Many thanks for checking out my profile. I'm originally from New Zealand but have spent my adult life here in Japan. The Nagoya area has been my home since the early nineties. I have witnessed the region's transformation from a sleepy industrial city to the vibrant metropolis of today. I would love the opportunity to tell you about some of my adventures and also a few of the outstanding people I've met. I spent many years practicing karate and have also developed a deep interest in Buddhism. I speak Japanese confidently. I'm new to GoWithGuide but have previous experience giving walking tours. To be able to introduce you to a few of my favourite Nagoya suburbs would be a treat. There are fascinating, historic temples as well as a stupa that purportedly contains a portion of the Buddha's ashes. Also, there are numerous tempting eateries and a few quirky shops. I prefer guiding guests around these less visited areas as you can get a feel for how the locals live. I look forward to meeting you soon.

Charley S.
Konnichiwa - - - Charley here. Originally, I grew up in Los Angeles and San Diego for the first quarter century of my life. In 2000, I moved to Aichi Prefecture, Japan. One of my main goals was to play music with Japanese musicians, particularly in the underground music scene, which I've been a part of throughout my life. Also, I wanted to enjoy and explore the beauty of living in a foreign country. I've been living here for 25 years, and can gladly say that I have been engaged thoroughly in both of those goals. Since the beginning of moving to Japan, I've always chosen to hang out and engage with Japanese people as opposed to other foreigners. I often find myself in izakaiyas and concert events where I am the only foreigner, but fortunately I am on good terms with the staff and other customers. So if you are looking to see the less touristy aspects of Japan, please feel free to get in touch with me and I would love to share what I have come to appreciate about Japan. Cheers !

Tommie T.
Welcome to Nagoya! I’m Tommie, a nationally certified guide based in central Japan. Having lived in six different countries since childhood, I have a passion for cultural exchange and connecting with people from all walks of life. After spending 14 years abroad, I now enjoy sharing the hidden charms of my lovely hometown, Nagoya, with international travelers like you! With experience guiding small groups and couples, I focus on creating warm, flexible, and meaningful tours. Whether you’re into history, local food, cars, modern city life, or traditional crafts, I can tailor the tour to match your interests. If you’ve already visited Tokyo or Kyoto, you’ll find Nagoya refreshingly less crowded and more relaxed. Here, you can enjoy authentic experiences with a local touch. Known not only as the home of TOYOTA, Nagoya also has strong roots in Samurai culture and offers a unique blend of tradition and innovation. Meantime, you can enjoy unique local specialities, such as Miso-Katsu( Pork cutlet with Miso), Hitsumabushi(grilled eel)etc., and also enjoy hands-on cultural experiences like Shiori dyeing or traditional fan-making. There’s so much to explore here. I’d love to be part of your memorable journey. Let’s enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime adventure together!

Aichi Tour Reviews
Midori N.
“spending a day with Saya in Nishio City and Arimatsu”
Saya is a lovely person to spend a day with as a private tour guide for the Nagoya Area . She made extra efforts to research where we wanted to go and helped us enjoy a visit to out of the way Nishio City and Arimatsu. We tried the local matcha and did a fun cotton fabric dyeing session thst helped us appreciate this technique and its place in the industry. This is a great alternative to more well known tourist sites - we also had a wonderful meal to end the day in Nagoya proper. Would highly endorse using her as a guide as she is very organized and communicative about planning a visit and listening to what you think is important. Her English is excellent!

Thank you so much for your wonderful comment. Knowing that you enjoyed the tour is truly the greatest joy for me. I’m very happy that both of you were satisfied with the experience. I hope the rest of your journey will be just as wonderful! Thank you again for choosing me as your guide.

“Excellent translator”
We hired Vlad to translate our communications with the managers of an organisation we were visiting in Shiga. He did an excellent job during our 4 hours visit. During the course of the day, we also had an interesting conversation about his life in Japan.

“Wonderful experience with Eiko in Okazaki and Asuke village”
Eiko-san was a wonderful guide for me and my daughter when we came to Japan for the first time now in January. She helped us build our itinerary, provided great advice as to how and when to travel from Osaka to Okazaki, picked us up from the train station and gave us a lot of practical assistance during our first day in Japan. Her kind help was greatly appreciated! She also helped me get in touch with a contact person for tourist association in Tono city, which was our next destination. Thanks to Eiko, me and my daughter had a great experience in Asuke village, participating in traditional straw making craft, making waraji. Through this experience, we have learned a lot about Japan’s history and traditional crafts and will treasure these memories forever. I would be happy to return to Japan and have Eiko-san as guide again, if an opportunity arises in the future. With greetings from Norway, Julia and Kathinka
