Beppu is one of the most famous and popular onsen (hot spring) in Japan. Beppu onsen boasts the largest number of hot spring in Japan! In this tour we take a limited train to go to Beppu from Fukuoka. We hire a professional local driver and he'll take you to spots you don't want to miss. For lunch we have healthy steamed food. At Bamboo crafts center you can try making a small bamboo craft for your souvenir of Beppu! If you prefer to see wild monkeys, we go to the mountain!

We meet at Hakata station to take a train to Beppu city.

Myoban hell
You can see traditional huts where they keep Yunohana (mineral deposits). It is located in a high place the view you see from there is gorgeous as well!
Lunch
Choose your ingredients and cook them with natural steam coming out from the ground!
Blood pond hell
It is the oldest hell in Beppu.
Bouzu hell
Means shaven head hell. It is amazing to watch those mud ponds are boiling.
Umi Jigoku (Ocean hell)
One of the most popular and famous hells.
Bamboo crafts center or Monkey mountain
We visit Bamboo crafts center, you can try making a small bamboo craft for your souvenir or we can go to Monkey mountain to see hundreds of wild cute monkeys!
Beppu station
We take a train to go back to Fukuoka city, we arrive at Hakata station at 18:50

Taxi in Beppu for 5 hours -approx.27,000yen *Jumbo taxi approx. 38,500yen
Entrance fee for 3 hells 1,350yen
Bamboo crafts center-890yen includes activity *closed on Mondays
your lunch - about 1000-2000yen
Monkey mountain - 520yen, monorail - 110yen
Train fee for you and guide from Fukuoka to Beppu round trip 6300yen per person *For example, if you are 2 people, you will need to pay 18,900yen(@6300×3) with cash on the tour day.
Tour Important Information
Please come with comfortable shoes.
We need to hire a taxi or a van for this tour.
It takes about 2 hours to go to Beppu from Fukuoka by express train.
If you choose Bamboo crafts center, the tour duration will be 5 hours, if it's monkey mountain it will be 5.5hours. The tour cost will be same but the taxi fare will be different.
Bamboo craft center is not available on Mondays.

“Excellent walking tour around Fukuoka”
We started off by taking the train to Daizaifu shrine, which wasn't too busy at 10am. I bought a snack of warabi mochi which was yummy. We pased the famout Starbucks, and made our way over the 3 bridges to the shrine itself. If you see a long queue to touch the bull, don't g to that one as there are a few ones around with no queue. Pro tip: make your way to the stairs to Tenkai Inari Shrine as it's away from the crowds. We then made our way back into Fukuoka to Curry Honpo, a delicious speciality curry restaurant using a recipe going back decades. We then visited Kushida Shrine, Hakata Machiya Hometown Museum and finally Tochoji Temple. Hitomi was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommended!

“Fukuoka from the cruise port”
Hitomi was an excellent guide. We gave her a List of everything wanted to see and do. We were very successful. Sakura Were beautiful. Eating the local Ramen was delicious. Hitomi hired a local taxi for eight hours and we were able to see and do whatever we wanted. All the guides and taxi services were excellent. We are grateful and feel so lucky to have met such wonderful people. Mata ne.

Hitomi-san was very professional in arranging the tour, and guiding us through attractions. Her knowledge and recommendations during our short tour makes for an excellent start of the tour.
