About Tour Guide Mio I.
KONICHIWA!! I am Mio!
I was born and raised in Hyogo Prefecture, and I moved to Fukuoka about a year and a half ago.
Since I moved here, I have been working as a tour leader, guiding Japanese travelers to beautiful destinations across Kyushu, including Fukuoka, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, and Saga Prefectures. Through my job, I've had the opportunity to discover many amazing places and experience the unique culture of each region.
Personally, I think Fukuoka has the best food in Japan!
If you'd like to explore places beyond the typical tourist attractions and experience authentic local life, I'd love to be your guide.
On my tours, we'll visit hidden gems that are still unknown to most international visitors, where you can meet local people and enjoy authentic experiences.
And if you're a big foodie, you definitely have to visit the Munakata area of Fukuoka! It's home to incredibly fresh seafood and wonderful restaurants that many tourists never get the chance to discover.

Munakata is especially well known for its fresh seafood, and I’ll take you to some of my favorite local restaurants. If you prefer meat or other types of food, I can also customize the experience for you.

Shikanoshima is a historic island located at the northern end of Hakata Bay. It is famous as the place where the Golden Seal of the King of Na was discovered in 1784. This precious artifact is designated as a Japanese national treasure. The island is also mentioned in Japan's oldest anthology of poetry, the Man'yōshū. Many poems describe its beautiful natural scenery, showing how its landscapes have inspired people for centuries.

Hidden Shrines: A Local Shrine-Hopping Tour
Did you know that Japan has more than 80,000 officially registered Shinto shrines? If we include small, unregistered shrines and other places of worship, some estimates suggest there could be as many as 200,000 to 300,000 shrines across the country. The exact number is unknown. On this tour, I’ll take you to a hidden local shrine that most tourists don’t know about. It’s a chance to step away from the usual tourist spots and experience a quieter, more local side of Japan.

The Shakyamuni Nirvana Statue at Nanzoin Temple. Completed in 1995, it measures 41 meters in length, 11 meters in height, and weighs 300 tons—making it one of the largest bronze reclining Buddha statues in the world. It also became well known when the temple’s chief priest won the top prize and bonus prizes in the Jumbo Lottery, with many saying it might have been a blessing from the statue. Surrounded by lush greenery, the serene expression of the Buddha watches over visitors in quiet peace.
