10:00 AM

Meeting Point

Kamakura Station East Exit

- Bus terminal plaza

10:00 AM

Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine

I will start at the Ni-no-Torii (the Second Gate) and walk down the Dankazura—the raised approach lined with cherry trees—toward the Ichi-no-Torii (the First Gate). Afterward, I plan to visit the Kamakura Bunkakan Tsurugaoka Museum to dive into the history of the shrine. I’ll also stop by the Museum of Shrine Treasures (Ho-motsu-kan) to pay my respects to the sacred Buddhist statues. To wrap up the visit, I’ll enjoy a bowl of matcha green tea within the serene shrine grounds. we will make our way to the Honden, the most sacred part of the shrine. Standing before its grand architecture, we can offer a final prayer and soak in the spiritual atmosphere that has guarded Kamakura for centuries.

11:30 AM

Kewai-zaka Pass-Genjiyama Park

Transition from the shrine through quiet residential lanes to one of the seven historic entrances to Kamakura. I will hike up the Kewaizaka Kiridoshi (Kewaizaka Pass) to retrace the steps of the ancient samurai and imagine how the warriors felt centuries ago.

12:30 PM

Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine

Descend toward the famous "money-washing" shrine. The name "Zeniarai" literally means "coin washing." According to legend, money washed in the shrine’s spring—one of the five celebrated springs of Kamakura—will multiply and return to you.

01:00 PM

Utsuwa Shoken KAMAKURA (Sasuke)

Here, you will encounter the finest examples of contemporary Japanese functional ceramics (utsuwa), showcasing the beauty of modern craftsmanship.

01:30 PM

The Great Buddha of Kamakura (Kotoku-in)

Step inside the giant bronze statue! Unlike most statues, you can actually go inside the Great Buddha for a small fee ($20$ yen). It’s a unique chance to see the $13$th-century craftsmanship from the inside out and feel the sheer scale of this $11.3$-meter masterpiece.

02:00 PM

Lunch: Kamakura Kitahashi (Soba Kaiseki)

Enjoy a refined multi-course Soba Kaiseki lunch within the historic architecture of the former Kagaya Residence. The true charm lies in the synergy between the space and the meal. The quiet dignity of the historic residence slows down time, allowing you to fully concentrate on the subtle flavors of the soba. It is the ultimate "slow food" experience in a fast-paced world.

03:00 PM

Hase Exploration (Hase-dera)

1. The Golden Kannon (Iconic Statue)

The temple houses one of the largest wooden statues in Japan—the 11-headed Kannon. Standing at over 9 meters tall, this gold-leaf-covered masterpiece represents the goddess of mercy. Standing before her serene presence is a truly spiritual experience.

2. The "Temple of Flowers"

Hasedera is famous for its breathtaking seasonal beauty. It is most iconic in June for its Hydrangea Path (Ajisai-matsuri), where over 2,500 hydrangeas bloom. In autumn, the temple is equally stunning with its vibrant red maples and evening illuminations.

3. The Panoramic Ocean View

The temple is built on a hillside, offering a spectacular lookout over Yuigahama Beach and the Sagami Bay. It’s the perfect spot to take a breather, enjoy the sea breeze, and snap some of the best photos in Kamakura.

04:00 PM

Yuigahama Beach to Wakamiya-oji Avenue

1. A Hub of Coastal Culture

During the summer, the beach comes alive with "Umi-no-ie" (beach huts) serving cold drinks and international cuisine. It’s a social hotspot where locals and travelers mingle, surf, and enjoy the sea breeze.

2. The Ultimate Sunset Spot

Yuigahama is famous for its stunning sunsets. As the sun dips below the horizon, the sky turns brilliant shades of orange and pink, reflecting off the shallow waves. It is the most relaxing way to end your Kamakura adventure.

05:00 PM

Returning to Ni-no-Torii

1. Back to the Second Gate (Ni-no-Torii)

We will make our way back to the Ni-no-Torii (the Second Gate). This is the perfect central hub to wrap up the day and find some of Kamakura's best local flavors.

2. The Must-Eat: Shirasu-don (Whitebait Bowl)

If you're interested, we can try Shirasu-don, Kamakura’s most famous local specialty. What is it? It’s a bowl of fluffy rice topped with Shirasu (baby sardines or whitebait).

06:00 PM

Komachi Street & Souvenir Shopping

1. The Heart of Souvenirs: Komachi Street

We’ll finish our day at Komachi Street, Kamakura’s most famous shopping alley. It’s packed with unique boutiques, traditional crafts, and modern snacks. This is the perfect place to pick up some memories of your trip!

2. The Must-Buy: Toshimaya's Hato Sabre

You can't leave Kamakura without visiting Toshimaya. Their signature item is the Hato Sabre—iconic, dove-shaped butter cookies.

The Charm: They’ve been loved by locals for over a century! The crunch and rich buttery flavor are unforgettable. Plus, the bright yellow cans make for a beautiful and classic Japanese souvenir.

3. Exploring the Zakka (General Goods) Shops

I also recommend wandering into the Zakka stores along the street. You’ll find everything from beautiful Japanese stationery and hand-painted fans to high-quality Kamakura-bori (lacquered wood carvings). It’s like a treasure hunt!

06:00 PM

The Farewell

This is where we part ways. Please take your time to enjoy shopping for souvenirs and exploring the side streets of Komachi! It was a pleasure showing you around Kamakura today. I hope you found some wonderful treasures!
